FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ NBS Bank Charity Shield match is set to be played at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday, April 9.
The People’s Team and the Nomads will travel to the Capital City to face in the 2023 season curtain-raiser as winners of the 2022 TNM Super League as well as the FDH Bank Cup and the Airtel Top 8 Cup, respectively.
Bullets will appear in the Charity Shield for a sixth time, winning all matches since the introduction of the competition in 2016 and will take on the Nomads for the third time, with Maule conquering all the ties.
Initially, the match was supposed to take place on Saturday, 1 April, but due to national team engagements, the Football Association of Malawi rescheduled the fixture, with the TNM Super League kick-off date set for Saturday, 15 April.
Kalisto Pasuwa is likely to have a full squad to pick his first official starting XI, with his latest signings Clyde Senaji, Collins Okumu, Chinedu Okafor, Mike Mkwate, Chawanangwa Gumbo and Maxwell Phodo all hoping to make their competitive debuts for Maule.
Meanwhile, NBS Bank has announced that the sponsorship package has been adjusted from 15 million to 20 million. Proceeds from this year’s match between Bullets and Wanderers will be channelled towards the victims of the recent devastating Cyclone Freddy that affected the southern part of Malawi.
