FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women have finished second in the first round of the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League following a 12-0 thumping of Evirom at BAT Ground on Sunday.
In the rescheduled abandoned fixture, Maule ladies began the Sunday afternoon’s scoring in as early as four minutes when Vanessa Chikupila, who scored five on the day, broke the deadlock after she was released by Tendai Sani.
Two minutes later, Asiyatu George made it two in favour of the visitors following a magnificent pass from Chikupila, who turned into provider after netting the opener.
The hosts nearly pulled one back in the 8th minute through Racheal Matemba from outside the penalty area, unfortunately for them, her effort went over the crossbar.
In the 18th minute, Chikupila had the ball inside the net before it was ruled out for offside despite coming off an Evirom defender as Bullets continued knocking.
With a perfect finish from far, the number 13 then completed her brace in the 28th minute to make it 3-0 inside 30 minutes.
Bullets were forced to make the first substitution in the 32nd minute when Matamando Makawa was replaced by louillia Yianakis due to an injury.
What a beautiful display from Chikupila, who registered the first hat trick of the day in the 33rd minute when she capitalized on a defensive lapse by the hosts who were under siege on a hot afternoon in Blantyre.
It was raining goals at the BAT Ground and Grace Yotam also found herself on the scoresheet when she registered Maule ladies’ fifth goal in the 38th minute.
George was the centre of chatter again in the closing minute of the opening half when she unleashed a brilliant drive to finish the first period with a perfect 6-0 lead.
George continued from where she had stopped before the recess when she found the back of the net again four minutes after the break, 7-0.
It was a one-way traffic now and Chikupila was back on the scoresheet in the 51st minute when she scored her fourth goal and Bullets’ eighth of the day.
Asimenye Mwanyongo, who had missed several chances, finally had the ball into the back of the net with a thunderous strike past goalkeeper Malita Chirambo, before Chikupila made it 10-0 six minutes later.
With over an hour played, the hosts looked frustrated but the visitors could not stop scoring and in the 70th minute, Sani had her name on the scoresheet when she unleashed a cool finish past Chirambo from outside the area.
George then concluded the day’s scoring three minutes before the last whistle with a beautiful strike inside the area and that was it, 12-0 it ended over the bottom-placed Evirom.
