Inside Bullets this week

Another action-packed weekend awaits two of our teams in the TNM Super League and the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.

As the first team will be on the road to Dwangwa, the reserves will visit Chilomoni.

While the Under 19s continue fine-tuning for the new FCB Under-19 Cup, our ladies’ team will prepare to hit the road to Lilongwe for the Goshen National Women’s Championship campaign.

We look at The People’s Team’s schedule this week.

FIRST TEAM

Straight from our 1-all draw in the Blantyre derby against rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at the weekend, we will be on the road for our third away fixture in the 2024 season away to Mafco FC at Chitowe Stadium on Saturday.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s men have had a mixed start to the season, having won two out of five games and have dropped further into the league standings as they are now four points behind the current leaders, Silver Strikers.

A trip to Dwangwa offers the defending champions an opportunity to bounce back into the Top 4.

Bullets should however be fully equipped to face a side that has made our life difficult when playing against the Salima-based soldiers away.

It will be an interesting outing for the 2023 quadruple winners facing a team yet to taste victory this campaign, having lost thrice and drawn twice. Mafco currently sit second from the bottom of the table with two points.

RESERVES

Enos Chatama’s boys will travel to Chilomoni Stadium to face The Boys in their third match of the season in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.

Bullets Reserves have four points from the two games and they will be hoping to continue from where they stopped last Wednesday before travelling to Mchinji for a friendly match where they won 1-0 at the weekend.

The lads hammered Mighty Tigers Reserves 4-0 at Mpira Stadium in their previous league match to register their first win in the Premier Division this new season.

WOMEN

Having trained for three months preparing for the long-awaited Goshen National Women’s Championship, our ladies’ team will finally travel to Lilongwe for the competition and they will open the campaign in the quarterfinals against MDF Lioness on Tuesday at the Bingu National Stadium.

Progressing to the semi-finals will see Maggie Chombo’s ladies meeting the winner between Moyale Sisters or Silver Strikers Ladies/CY Sisters for a place in the final.

Kukoma Ntopwa Women, the defending champions, will open their title defence with another interesting quarterfinal clash against Ascent Academy.

UNDER 19S

Our youngsters are fine-tuning for the new FCB Under-19 Cup which kicks off on 25 May.

Bullets Youth have never won this competition and will aim to break the jinx to add another trophy to their cabinet after successfully retaining the African Herbal Mixture Under-19 Cup a fortnight ago.
