October Player of the Month Nominees

Chrispin Mapemba, Yankho Singo, Nickson Nyasulu, and Wongani Lungu have been nominated for October’s Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month.

The People’s Team played five matches in all competitions last month and won three while drawing on two occasions.

October had a lot of top performers, but only four could make it on the shortlist. While you vote for your winner, here is a look at how the nominees fared last month.

Wongani Lungu

The central midfielder has been seamlessly integrating into the team since arriving from Mzuzu City Hammers at the start of the 2024 TNM Super League’s second round of the season.

In October, he illuminated his value with sturdy performances in his four appearances across all competitions.

He received the Super League of Malawi Player of the Match award and the one by our proud partners Paramount Blocks and Construction against Mafco FC at the Kamuzu Stadium.

In his first Blantyre derby against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, he assisted our match-winner as he selflessly set up Babatunde Adepoju to give us a 2-1 victory over our rivals in a big game he made his presence felt.

Chrispin Mapemba

Having to deal with an injury inside the first half of the season, the out-and-out young winger made a strong return in October.

Our fresh graduate from our reserves featured in all our games in October. In the 77th Blantyre derby, he won the Player of the Match award for his splendid and untiring display.

In a makeshift role, Mapemba is putting himself into the bracket of the brightest full-backs in the top-tier football in this country. His October can tell you that.

Nickson Nyasulu

Already a winner of this award this season, the centre-back hasn’t pressed the off button. Nyasulu maintained his form throughout October. He was the man in the blue-collar in the three games he featured in all competitions.

Exemplary, he captained The People’s Team in our 22-1 win over Kumanda FC in the Castel Challenge Cup Round of 64.

His fantastic work in the Airtel Top 8 second-leg clash against Civil Service United earned him the Player of the Match honours.

Yankho Singo

The young holding midfielder is enjoying his football again after spending much of last season on the sidelines.

He only missed our Castel Challenge Cup match against the non-league Kumanda FC in October.

Singo was excellent in the rest of the games, and his performances made him a regular contender for the Player of the Match awards.

His ball recovery skills and amazing work rate earned him a lot of praise from the fans in October.
