What you need to know about Dedza Dynamos

Following a three-week break in the TNM Super League, we’re back in action this Wednesday with an away match against Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.

Dedza Stadium has proven to be a challenging venue for us, as we have never claimed a league win there since it started hosting top-flight games. In six previous meetings, we have faced Dedza Dynamos twice on their home ground, coming away with one draw and one loss.

As Peter Mponda’s team travels to the Central Region, Bullets are eager to end this run and secure their first league victory at Dedza.

Ahead of Wednesday’s trip, let’s take a closer look at Dedza’s start to the 2025 season through their first four fixtures.

Creck Sporting Club 1-4 Dedza Dynamos

Dedza Dynamos kicked off their campaign with an emphatic away win over Creck Sporting Club in Mponela. Brian Masebo set the tone with the league’s fastest goal in just the first minute, ultimately contributing to a resounding 4-1 victory at Champions Stadium. Further goals from Agney Msowoya, Chifuniro Mpinganjira, and Khumbo Banda highlighted a strong performance, while George Chaomba netted the only goal for the hosts.

This dominant result gave Dedza their first major opening-day triumph, putting them at the top of the standings after the first match week.

Dedza Dynamos 0-1 Mzuzu City Hammers

Riding high from their opening win, Bunya’s side returned home full of confidence for their second match. However, they suffered a surprising 1-0 defeat to Mzuzu City Hammers, thanks to Samson Olatibosun’s first-half strike. The result stunned the Dedza supporters, as three valuable points slipped away after such a strong start.

Mighty Tigers 2-0 Dedza Dynamos

The next challenge took Dedza Dynamos to Blantyre to square off with Mighty Tigers, who were seeking their first victory of the season. Still reeling from the defeat to the Hammers, Dedza aimed to rebound at Kamuzu Stadium. Instead, goals in either half from Martin Nsewa and Precious Chiudza handed Tigers their first win of the season and condemned the visitors to consecutive losses in the league.

From a bright start, Dedza Dynamos found themselves sliding down the table after two straight defeats within a week.

Dedza Dynamos 2-0 Chitipa United

In their final fixture before the CHAN break, Dedza returned to winning ways with a 2-0 home victory over Chitipa United. Both teams had mixed results leading up to this encounter, making the clash an important one for their early-season ambitions. Frank Sanudi delivered a second-half brace, sealing a well-earned win and lifting Dynamos up to seventh in the standings with six points from their opening four games.

Bullets’ Record Against Dedza Dynamos

This upcoming match marks the seventh league encounter between us and Dedza Dynamos since their promotion to the top flight at the start of the 2022 season. Past meetings have been evenly matched: three of six games have ended in stalemates, while Bullets hold two wins and Dedza one. Ten goals have been scored in total, with the most prolific match finishing 2-2 at Kamuzu Stadium.

In cup competitions, we delivered a memorable 5-1 victory at Kamuzu Stadium in the FDH Bank Cup semifinals, scoring through Collins Okumu, McFallen Mgwira, Hassan Kajoke, and a brace from Anthony Mfune; Gift Magola found the net for Dedza’s consolation.

Our most recent league visit to Dedza Stadium came in April 2024, when the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Ephraim Kondowe struck in the first half, before Promise Kamwendo levelled for Dedza after the break.

Notably, we also secured a 3-1 quarterfinal win over MMF Marines in the Castel Challenge Cup at Dedza Stadium last year.
