FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda has revised the team’s captaincy structure.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday’s TNM Super League encounter with Chitipa United at Kamuzu Stadium, Mponda outlined the changes.
Initially, Mponda appointed Clyde Senaji as captain, with Lloyd Aaron as vice-captain. Should both be unavailable, responsibility would pass to senior players such as Yankho Singo, Frank Willard, Mike Mkwate, Babatunde Adepoju, or Richard Chimbamba.
Yet, during recent friendlies against Mchinji Villa and Changalume Barracks, Frank Willard wore the captain’s armband on the pitch, despite Senaji’s presence.
On Wednesday, it was Aaron who captained the side in a 1-0 away win over Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos, once again stepping in for Senaji, who also started the match.
“Being a captain is not about wearing the arm band. It’s about leadership. Now, I want to confirm that starting from today, the captain is Lloyd Aaron and the second captain is Yankho Singo. But also, in the bracket we’ve got Babatunde, Mike Mkwate, Frank Willard, and Richard Chimbamba. If Aaron or Singo are not there, those four can also wear the armband,” confirmed Mponda.
He added: “We have got reasons for these decisions. Senaji was already communicated three weeks ago, it’s not an issue to him. It’s an in-house issue, which we cannot communicate to everyone, but Senaji received it well.”
