What you need to know about Chitipa United

Bullets are set to return to Kamuzu Stadium after a victorious journey to Dedza Stadium, where we clinched our maiden TNM Super League win at that ground, defeating Dedza Dynamos.

Peter Mponda’s team showcased grit and perseverance, overcoming a determined Dedza side to earn a hard-fought 1-0 victory courtesy of Chikumbutso Salima’s 89th-minute goal. This win helped maintain our perfect start to the season.

Up next, we face Chitipa United, who remain competitive in the league. Before the Sunday 14:30 kick-off, let’s take a moment to review how The Lions of Fort Hill have fared in their campaign so far.

Mafco FC vs Chitipa United

Chitipa United kicked off their 2025 campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss away at Chitowe Stadium, where Mafco FC claimed victory thanks to a 14th-minute strike from Yohane Malunga.

Chitipa United vs Silver Strikers

In their second match of the season, Chitipa United hosted Silver Strikers at Karonga Stadium and battled to a 2-2 draw. Alex Benson put the home side ahead before the half-hour mark, but Binwell Katinji leveled the score in the 34th minute. Just before the break, Chinsinsi Maonga netted another for the visitors. However, Joseph Mbaga found the equalizer for the hosts in the 64th minute, ensuring the points were shared.

Chitipa United vs Ekhaya FC

Next, Chitipa United welcomed league newcomers Ekhaya FC at Karonga Stadium for their second home game in a row. Mbaga’s decisive goal secured their first league victory of the season, bringing their points tally to four from three games.

Dedza Dynamos vs Chitipa United

Chitipa then travelled to Dedza Stadium to take on Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos, where they endured a 2-0 loss, both goals coming from Frank Sanudi in the second half.

Chitipa United vs Civil United

Their subsequent fixture saw Chitipa United welcome Civil Service United to Karonga Stadium. A second-half goal from Ramson Sukali rescued a point, cancelling out Chifundo Damba’s first-half strike for the visitors.

Technical Team Changes

Chitipa United recently made a key change in their technical bench, appointing Kondwani Ikwanga as head coach after parting ways with Christopher Nyambose, who had previously guided the club to safety on the final day of the 2024 season.

Players to Watch

Mbaga leads Chitipa’s scoring with two goals, while Alex Benson and Ramson Sukali have each found the net once. After five matches, Chitipa United have registered one win, two draws, and two losses, scoring four goals and conceding six. This record currently places them 13th in the league.

It’s worth mentioning that The Lions of Fort Hill have yet to record a win against Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium. Their closest effort came in 2019, with an impressive second-half rally earning them a 2-2 draw. In their most recent visit, they were defeated 4-2 last season.
