This Saturday afternoon, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets return to Kamuzu Stadium, eager to secure more TNM Super League points as we host Kamuzu Barracks.
Kicking off at 14:30, this match marks Bullets’ sixth fixture of the season and our third home game.
Peter Mponda’s side has made a flawless start to the 2025 campaign, winning all five opening matches. Most recently, we notched up a 3-0 victory against Chitipa United last Sunday.
With our sights set firmly on extending our lead at the summit of the table, Bullets will be determined to notch another vital win against the visiting soldiers from Lilongwe.
That said, Kamuzu Barracks are far from easy opponents—despite a somewhat inconsistent start, they have managed three wins and two defeats from their first five outings. Currently, they occupy fourth place with nine points.
Encounters between The People’s Team and KB have a history of producing plenty of goals, making this fixture one fans won’t want to miss.
FORM GUIDE
Bullets’ 3-0 win over Chitipa United marked our fifth straight victory, maintaining our 100 percent winning record in the league’s early stages.
So far, Mponda’s men have registered wins over Silver Strikers, Creck Sporting Club, Songwe Border United, and Dedza Dynamos, racking up 16 goals and conceding just once.
Meanwhile, Kamuzu Barracks began their campaign with a 3-1 victory against Mzuzu City Hammers—Zeliat Nkhoma netting a brace and Francis Mchema adding another.
Their momentum faltered at home, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Moyale Barracks with goals from Maneno Nyoni and Clever Kalambo.
In week three, KB bounced back on the road, dispatching Mafco FC 4-0—thanks to a double from Shuilten Mhango and strikes from both Nkhoma and Mchema—securing their second away win.
Back at home, they faced Silver Strikers but fell 2-0, with Zebron Kalima and Stain Davie finding the net for the visitors.
They regrouped with a gritty 1-0 away win over Ekhaya FC, courtesy of another goal from Nkhoma.
Most recently, KB battled to a goalless draw against Creck Sporting Club, climbing to fourth in the standings with 10 points from six matches, five behind Bullets, who also have a game in hand.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Bullets have traditionally dominated this fixture, amassing 24 points from their last ten meetings with Kamuzu Barracks.
In the 2022 season, The People’s Team took four out of six available points, edging the first-round tie 1-0 in Lilongwe through a late goal by Babatunde Adepoju, before a 1-1 draw in the return leg at Kamuzu Stadium.
During the 2020/21 season, Bullets completed a double over the then Alick Chirwa’s squad, winning 3-1 and 3-0 in two matches—the latter sealing our championship triumph.
Kamuzu Barracks only managed to get the better of Bullets in 2019, narrowly winning 1-0 through Ndaona Daisi. Despite Bullets dominating play, we squandered several chances.
Last season’s first encounter ended in a goalless draw, but Bullets came from behind in the second round to secure a 3-2 victory, with Lanjesi Nkhoma netting a brace and Maxwell Phodo adding another, while Olson Kanjira scored twice for the opposition.
Bullets also triumphed 1-0 in the reverse fixture, with Stanley Billiat—now at Ekhaya FC—scoring the only goal in the first half.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Zeliat Nkhoma and Francis Mchema are the main threats for The Soldiers, sharing six goals between them this season. Nkhoma, in particular, trails Babatunde Adepoju by just one goal in the race for the league’s top scorer. Our Nigerian forward has hit the back of the net five times this campaign.
KB’S PERFORMANCE ON THE ROAD
Under the guidance of Nicolas Mhango, Kamuzu Barracks have proven to be a formidable force away from home, earning seven points from their three away fixtures. They have delivered commanding victories over both Mzuzu City Hammers and Mafco, netting seven goals and conceding only once.
However, their fortunes against Bullets in Blantyre tell a different story. Since their promotion to the Super League in 2012, they have yet to secure a win over us at Kamuzu Stadium.
TEAM NEWS
There are no major changes to report within the team, as the situation remains unchanged from the last match. Peter Banda and Chrispin Mapemba are still unavailable. Banda started light training last week while Mapemba is still out.
