Reserves: Bullets eye redemption away at Ntopwa

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves are aiming to get back on track in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League as they head to Kamuzu Stadium for a showdown with Ntopwa on Monday.

Still smarting from a 3-0 loss to Ekhaya Reserves last weekend, the young Bullets will be seeking a swift response to reaffirm their dominance at the top of the league standings.

Despite that recent setback, Heston Munthali’s boys have demonstrated their quality by securing victories in three of their four matches so far. A win over Ntopwa would strengthen their grip on the top position and reignite their confidence.

On the other hand, Ntopwa enter the fixture buoyed by newfound momentum after clinching their first win of the campaign—a narrow 1-0 triumph over Thondwe FC. With one victory and one defeat from their opening two fixtures, Ntopwa will be eager to build on their latest performance and present a stern test for the league leaders.

Historically, Bullets Reserves have enjoyed the upper hand in this contest, collecting 11 out of a possible 15 points in their last five meetings—winning three and drawing two.

In 2023, both encounters ended in 1-1 stalemates. However, last season, Bullets swept Ntopwa, claiming all six points with a 2-0 win in the first leg before a lone goal from captain Oscar Petro in the return match sealed another victory.

Yet, with both teams hungry for points, past results may count for little when they face off on Monday from 14:30. As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Kamuzu Stadium to see who will emerge victorious.
