TNM Super League – Sunday, 3 August 2025
Champion Stadium, Mponela | Kick-off: 14:30
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets continue their TNM Super League campaign with another crucial away fixture as we take on Mafco FC at Champion Stadium in Mponela on Sunday afternoon.
Fresh from Thursday’s important 2-0 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers in Rumphi, The People’s Team will be aiming to secure back-to-back wins and keep the pressure on current log leaders Mighty Wanderers in the title race.
But it won’t be straightforward—our opponents have been in solid form recently, and Sunday’s encounter is expected to be another hard-fought battle.
FORM GUIDE
The past few weeks have delivered mixed results for Bullets.
We suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Civil Service United before bouncing back to beat Silver Strikers on penalties and retain the Airtel Top 8 Cup. Despite the cup triumph, we endured another league setback at Kamuzu Stadium, losing 1-0 to Blue Eagles—our second league defeat of the season at home.
However, the team responded well on Thursday, as late goals from Chikumbutso Salima and Hassan Kajoke secured a vital 2-0 win over Mzuzu City Hammers.
Mafco, meanwhile, are enjoying a strong run of form. They have collected seven points from their last three games—beating Dedza Dynamos 2-0, overcoming Songwe Border United 3-1, and holding Silver Strikers to a goalless draw in Lilongwe. They currently sit 10th on the table with 17 points from 13 matches.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This fixture carries a long-standing history.
Since 2010, Bullets and Mafco have faced off 26 times in the league. Maule have won 12, drawn 12, and lost only twice.
In the last five seasons, we’ve largely dominated, particularly at home. Last season, we played out a 1-1 draw in the first round before clinching a 1-0 win in the return leg at Kamuzu Stadium.
However, Bullets are yet to win away at Mafco in the past two seasons—an indicator of the challenge that lies ahead in Mponela.
COACH’S THOUGHTS
“Every game is important for Bullets, and these three points are crucial if we are to stay in the title race. We’ve been inconsistent—some games we play well, others we grind results, and in some we just don’t show up. The boys know this, and we’ve had those conversations. I believe we’ve prepared well and they will step up.” — Peter Mponda, Head Coach
TEAM NEWS
There are no fresh injury concerns or suspensions. Head coach Peter Mponda has retained the full squad that made the trip to Rumphi, with all players available for selection.
