The TNM Super League may be on pause for the Men’s FIFA international break, but it’s far from quiet within the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets camp.
With the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League and the Blantyre District Youth Football League ongoing — and the NBM Women’s Championship resuming this weekend after the mid-season break — three of our teams remain active, while the First Team uses the short pause to regroup and possibly return to action in a friendly match this weekend, pending confirmation.
First Team: Regrouping During the Break
Following Thursday’s goalless draw away to Blue Eagles, the first team has shifted focus to recovery and tactical reviews at the club’s base in Blantyre.
Head coach Peter Mponda, who is also serving as assistant coach for the Malawi national team, has joined Kalisto Pasuwa’s Flames backroom staff for the upcoming international friendlies against Lesotho in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on 15 and 18 November.
In his absence, Gilbert Chirwa has taken charge of The People’s Team, overseeing gym work, recovery, and light field sessions ahead of a potential friendly match this weekend as part of the squad’s preparation for the league’s resumption.
Four Bullets players — Blessings Mpokera, Yankho Singo, Chikumbutso Salima, and Babatunde Adepoju — are also with the Flames for the two fixtures.
Bullets Women: NBM Women’s Championship Resumes This Weekend
After a short mid-season break, Bullets Women return to action this weekend as the 2025-26 NBM Women’s Championship resumes with Week 10 fixtures.
Maggie Chombo’s side will face Kukoma Ntopwa Women on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at Mpira Stadium, kicking off at 14:30.
Bullets Women closed the first round with a 1-1 draw away to Civil Service Ladies in Lilongwe, having earlier suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Silver Strikers Ladies, who remain unbeaten and top of the standings.
Before those results, Chombo’s side had produced a strong run, including a 3-0 victory over MK Academy and a memorable 1-0 Blantyre derby win against Mighty Wanderers Queens, sealed by a spectacular late freekick from Ioulia Yiannakis.
Bullets Reserves: Focused on League Momentum
There’s no break for the Bullets Reserves, who continue their campaign in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.
Heston Munthali’s charges remain firmly in the title race and are currently on a three-match unbeaten run following last weekend’s 1-1 draw away to Mwanza.
Training continues this week as the technical team sharpens match fitness and tactical execution ahead of the next fixture.
Bullets Under-19: Building Confidence After Back-to-Back Wins
The Bullets Under-19 side has made a bright start to the second round of the Blantyre District Youth Football League, recording back-to-back wins in their opening two matches.
They began the round with a 2-1 victory over Yizo Yizo, before defeating Nthutha Academy 2-0 on Sunday.
The results keep the young Maule second on the table with 34 points from 17 games, four points behind leaders Mighty Wanderers Youth.
Yamikani Fodya’s boys continue to impress with their attacking style and discipline, and this week they await confirmation of their next opponent as they look to extend their fine run of form.
