FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women's goalkeeper Thoko Mwase in action for Malawi

Four Bullets Women named in Malawi’s latest provisional squad

Four FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women players have been named in the Malawi Women’s National Team squad ahead of the Four Nations FIFA Series Tournament in Kenya.

Goalkeeper Thoko Mwase, defender Bernadette Mkandawire, midfielder Lyna James and forward Mary Chavinda are among the 35 players selected in the provisional squad named by Scorchers head coach Lovemore Fazili.

The call-ups come during the domestic off-season and reward the quartet’s performances during the previous campaign.

Mwase was a commanding presence between the posts, producing important saves and organising the defence. Mkandawire stood out for her composure, strength and tactical discipline at the back.

James impressed in midfield with her creativity and control of the tempo, while Chavinda remained a consistent attacking threat with her pace and finishing.

The Four Nations FIFA Series Tournament is scheduled to take place in Kenya from 11 to 15 April 2025.
