Sean McBrams yet to appear on a matchday squad for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets

Squad Update: Chirwa ahead of Blue Eagles clash

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Gilbert Chirwa has delivered the latest update on his squad ahead of Saturday’s FDH Bank Premiership encounter against Blue Eagles at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The People’s Team head into the away fixture looking to return to winning ways following last weekend’s goalless draw against Red Lions in Mwanza.

Speaking during Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Chirwa confirmed that Bullets have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Lilongwe.

The head coach also revealed that captain Frank Willard, goalkeeper McLean Mwale and defender Ahmed Kung’unde remain unavailable as they continue their recovery programmes.

“Frank Willard, McLean Mwale and Ahmed Kung’unde are still nursing their injuries,” said Chirwa.

Maxwell Phodo will also miss Saturday’s encounter as he serves the final match of his suspension following the red card he received during the Blantyre Derby against Mighty Wanderers earlier this month.

Chirwa also explained the continued absence of attacker Sean McBrams, who is still working his way back to full fitness after missing the club’s entire pre-season programme during his time in South Africa.

“Sean is being given a bit of time to catch up with his fellow teammates,” said Chirwa. “He missed the entire pre-season because he was in South Africa, and his levels of fitness are below par, hence his absence from the main team.”

Despite some key absentees, Chirwa expressed confidence in the squad ahead of the encounter in Lilongwe.

“We are ready, we are fully prepared, and we have to go there to fight for points and nothing else,” he added.

Bullets travel to Civo Stadium on Saturday looking to secure an important result against one of the league’s early pace setters, with kick-off scheduled for 14:30.
