FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves versus FC Thondwe during their 2025 meeting at Kamuzu Stadium

Reserves: Bullets target back-to-back wins against Thondwe

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves are back in action on Sunday afternoon as they look to make it two wins from two at the start of the 2026 SRFA FINCA Division League 1 campaign against FC Thondwe at Mpira Stadium.

The reserve side kicked off the new season with an impressive 3-2 victory over Mwanza Stars last weekend, overturning an early deficit to collect all three points in their opening fixture.

Buoyed by last weekend’s comeback victory, the team heads into Sunday’s contest eager to maintain momentum and build on a promising start to the campaign.

Assistant coach Gift Nyirenda confirmed that almost the entire squad is available for selection, with defender Vincent Kampira the only absentee after his dismissal in the season opener.

“All the boys are fit and ready to play apart from Vincent Kampira, who received two yellow cards against Mwanza. He is the only player who will not be available for this match,” said Nyirenda.

The opening-day victory has provided belief as the team seeks to continue its encouraging start to the season.

“When you win your first match, it gives motivation to the players and with the way we have prepared, we believe that on Sunday we will get positive results,” he explained.

Bullets Reserves enjoyed the better of their meetings with FC Thondwe last season, claiming a 3-0 victory in the first-round encounter before playing out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.

Despite that record, the reserve side expects another stern examination against a side that has reinforced its squad ahead of the new season.

The Bullets Reserves vice coach added:

“We are expecting another tough match because Thondwe have also brought in a lot of new players, but we have prepared for positive results.”

He also called on supporters to turn out in numbers and back the team.

“The supporters should come and support their team and they will watch an entertaining match. The team will give them positive results.”

Kick-off at Mpira Stadium is scheduled for 14:30 as the reserve side looks to make it two wins from two and continue its encouraging start to the 2026 SRFA FINCA Division League 1 campaign.

The encounter comes on a busy Sunday for The People’s Team, whose senior side will also be in action against Moyale Barracks in an FDH Bank Premiership fixture at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium in Mwanza.
