FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves produced a ruthless attacking display on Saturday afternoon as they thrashed Mwanza United 6-1 in the SRFA FINCA Division League 1 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Francis Malikebu starred for The People’s Team with a superb hat-trick and an assist, while Verson Mudu struck twice and Duncan Kumbuyo added another as Bullets Reserves returned to winning ways with an emphatic 6-1 victory.
Malikebu and Mudu put Bullets in control
The hosts settled quickly and were rewarded in the 14th minute when Malikebu threaded a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Mudu, who calmly slotted home to open the scoring.
Bullets doubled their advantage just two minutes later through Malikebu. The forward unleashed a powerful effort that struck the inside of the right post before finding the back of the net.
Malikebu grabbed his second goal of the afternoon in the 23rd minute after capitalising on hesitation inside the Mwanza United defence. Set up by Mudu, the striker made no mistake to put Bullets firmly in control at 3-0.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings, with Limbani Manyamba, Kondwani Tebulo and Kumbuyo all causing problems for the visitors, who struggled to create meaningful openings before the break.
Hosts maintain momentum after the restart
Bullets resumed where they left off after the break and nearly added a fourth when Manyamba rattled the crossbar.
The fourth goal arrived in the 52nd minute after Tebulo won possession in midfield and surged forward before delivering an excellent pass for Mudu, who finished brilliantly to make it 4-0.
Malikebu completed his hat-trick shortly afterwards, once again benefiting from Tebulo’s creativity as Bullets stretched their advantage to five goals.
Mwanza United were handed an opportunity to reduce the deficit on the hour mark, but goalkeeper Julius Banda produced an excellent save to deny Edward Mindano from the penalty spot and preserve the hosts’ five-goal cushion.
Kumbuyo completes rout
The visitors continued to come under pressure as substitute Movic Banda went close on several occasions before Kumbuyo produced a moment of quality in the 76th minute.
The midfielder struck from outside the box, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot as Bullets extended their lead to 6-0.
Mwanza United managed a late consolation through substitute Macmillan Mwale in the 88th minute following a defensive lapse, but it did little to alter the outcome as Bullets cruised to a commanding victory.
The result moved Bullets Reserves onto six points from their opening three matches and served as an emphatic response to last weekend’s defeat to FC Thondwe, as The People’s Team delivered their most convincing display of the season so far.
