Chinoko appointed for Ekhaya quarterfinal

Match officials confirmed for Ekhaya quarterfinal

The match officials for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal first-leg clash against Ekhaya FC at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday have been confirmed.

The People’s Team will host the Cowboys in a 17:00 kick-off at Bingu National Stadium as Maule begin the defence of the Airtel Top 8 title.

An experienced officiating team has been assembled for Saturday’s quarterfinal first leg, with several of the officials having previously handled matches involving The People’s Team.

David Chinoko, Referee

Chinoko will be taking charge of his 13th Bullets match. His most recent involvement with The People’s Team came in December 2025 when he oversaw the 2-0 league defeat to Moyale Barracks in Mzuzu.

Widely regarded as one of the most experienced referees among Malawi’s current generation of match officials, Chinoko brings considerable top-flight and knockout competition experience to Saturday’s assignment.

Lameck Phiri, First Assistant Referee

Phiri’s most recent involvement in a Bullets fixture came in February 2026 when he was on the line as The People’s Team defeated Goshen City Dedza Dynamos to lift the Castel Challenge Cup at Bingu National Stadium.

He has handled several high-profile matches throughout his officiating career, including a number involving Bullets.

Yohane Chiutika, Second Assistant Referee

Chiutika is among the assistant referees who have regularly officiated Bullets fixtures in recent seasons. His most recent involvement with The People’s Team came in May when he was on the line during the 1-1 FDH Bank Premiership draw against Blue Eagles at Civo Stadium.

Last season, he was involved in five Bullets matches, including the Castel Challenge Cup quarterfinal clash against Mighty Tigers in January.

Kondwani Kamwendo, Fourth Official

Kamwendo’s most recent involvement in a Bullets fixture came in August 2025 when he refereed The People’s Team’s 1-0 victory over MAFCO FC in Mponela.

He returns for his first involvement in a Bullets fixture in 10 months.

Innocent Kaundula, Referee Assessor

Kaundula’s most recent involvement in a Bullets fixture came in August 2025 when he served as referee assessor during The People’s Team’s 1-0 victory over MAFCO FC in Mponela.

He handled four Bullets fixtures during the 2025 season and will link up once again with fourth official Kamwendo, with both having been involved in The People’s Team’s 1-0 victory over MAFCO FC in Mponela.
