Weekend Wrap: Bullets build on positive momentum

A third successive league victory for the first team, a winning start for the Under-19s and valuable competitive minutes for the club’s loanees reflected another encouraging weekend for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets continued their encouraging progress over the weekend as The People’s Team extended their unbeaten FDH Bank Premiership run with another convincing victory, the Under-19s made a winning start to their league campaign and our loan players continued their development through regular competitive football.

The Reserves also produced another spirited display despite suffering late heartbreak in the SRFA FINCA Division One League, rounding off another busy weekend across the club.

Here’s a closer look at the weekend’s action across the club.

First Team

The People’s Team made it three consecutive league victories under Wedson Nyirenda with a deserved 2-0 win over Creck Sporting Club at Mpira Stadium.

Ephraim Kondowe struck twice to secure all three points as Bullets climbed to second place on 19 points while extending their unbeaten league run.

The People’s Team controlled large spells of the contest, created numerous chances and once again combined attacking intent with defensive discipline to continue their impressive recent form.

Reserves

Bullets Reserves were left frustrated after conceding a stoppage-time goal in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Nyambadwe United in the SRFA FINCA Division One League.

Despite the result, the young Bullets produced another encouraging display, dominating possession and creating several clear-cut opportunities before the visitors snatched victory deep into added time.

The performance nevertheless provided further signs of progress under Henry Kabichi as the young Bullets continue to grow throughout the campaign.

Under-19s

Our Under-19 side enjoyed the perfect start to their league campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Yizo Yizo Warriors at Kamuzu Stadium.

After a goalless first half, the young Bullets returned with renewed purpose to produce an outstanding second-half display, scoring three unanswered goals to begin the season on a high.

The result underlined the exciting talent emerging through our development pathway as the Under-19s laid a strong foundation for the campaign ahead.

Loan Watch

Our loan contingent continued to gain valuable senior experience across the domestic leagues over the weekend.

Oscar Petro completed another full 90 minutes for CIVO United despite their narrow 1-0 FDH Bank Premiership defeat to Red Lions, continuing his impressive run of regular top-flight appearances.

In the NBS Bank National Division League, Prince Chalera started for Bangwe All Stars against Extreme FC before making way in the 65th minute as his side suffered a 1-0 defeat. Fellow Bullets loanee Cidrec Maxwell was named among the substitutes but did not feature.

Elsewhere, Austin Chirambo was not included in the LUANAR Mitundu Baptist matchday squad as his side played out a goalless draw in the FDH Bank Premiership.

Our loan programme continues to provide young players with regular competitive football, helping prepare them for future opportunities with The People’s Team.

The Week Ahead

Attention now turns to another important week across the club.

The Reserves travel to Chilomoni Stadium on Wednesday to face Immigration FC in the SRFA FINCA Division One League, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s narrow defeat.

The People’s Team will then switch focus to the Airtel Top 8, taking on Ekhaya FC on Saturday in the second leg of the quarterfinals as Wedson Nyirenda’s men look to book their place in the semifinals of the competition they are aiming to defend.

The Under-19s, meanwhile, will aim to build on their impressive opening-day victory in their second league fixture, while our loanees continue gaining valuable competitive experience across the domestic leagues.
