Head coach Wedson Nyirenda has provided the latest squad update ahead of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ FDH Bank Premiership fixture against Ekhaya FC at Mpira Stadium on Sunday.
Bullets return to league action looking to extend their winning run under Nyirenda and maintain their unbeaten start to the FDH Bank Premiership campaign.
The availability of captain Blessings Mpokera, however, remains the biggest selection concern ahead of the encounter.
Speaking during Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Nyirenda confirmed the skipper is nursing a groin muscle injury and will face a late fitness test.
“We have the captain, Blessings, who is nursing a groin muscle injury. We hope he can return to training tomorrow so that we can assess him. At the moment, it’s 50-50.”
Mpokera will be assessed ahead of the fixture, with Nyirenda hopeful the skipper will recover in time to lead the side against Ekhaya.
The Bullets gaffer also confirmed midfielder Paul Master remains unavailable as he continues his rehabilitation under the supervision of the club’s medical team, while defender Chrispin Mapemba remains on the sidelines following knee surgery in April.
“We have some knocks here and there. Paul Master is still out. We have Chrispin, who has been on a long lay-off.”
Bullets will be aiming to make it four consecutive league victories under Nyirenda when they face Ekhaya, with Mpokera’s fitness set to be monitored ahead of kick-off.
