FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves produced another outstanding attacking display on Saturday afternoon, thrashing Zingwangwa United 7-1 at Kamuzu Stadium to extend their winning run to four matches in the SRFA FINCA Region Division One League.
Bullets transformed a two-goal half-time advantage into an emphatic victory, adding five more goals after the break to continue their impressive climb up the table.
Limbani Manyamba and Vincent Kampira both scored braces, while Kondwani Tebulo, Jazil Bannet and Feston Botoman also found the net in a ruthless team performance.
The result maintained Bullets Reserves’ excellent run of form and further strengthened Henry Kabichi’s side’s push towards the league’s leading pack.
Bullets seize control before the break
The young Bullets settled quickly and almost broke the deadlock inside the opening 10 minutes. Jazil Bannet combined neatly with Kondwani Chaula, whose powerful strike crashed against the crossbar.
The hosts continued to create the clearer openings. Yankho Phiri forced the visitors into a hurried clearance before creating another chance for Bannet, whose effort was brilliantly kept out by the Zingwangwa goalkeeper.
Bullets eventually found the breakthrough in the 33rd minute. Francis Malikebu sparked a flowing attacking move before Duncan Kumbuyo picked out Kondwani Tebulo, who calmly slotted Bullets in front.
Five minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage. Manyamba released Vincent Kampira, who kept his composure to finish confidently and make it 2-0 before the break.
Zingwangwa came close to reducing the deficit before half-time, but Ganizani Banda produced an excellent save to deny Jabulani Mwachilambo and preserve Bullets’ two-goal cushion.
Second-half blitz seals emphatic victory
Bullets carried their momentum into the second half and continued to ask questions of the Zingwangwa defence.
The third goal arrived on the hour mark after an initial corner had been cleared. Manyamba reacted quickest to regain possession inside the penalty area before calmly placing his finish beyond the goalkeeper.
The defender completed his brace five minutes later, rising highest to meet Kampira’s inviting free-kick and head home Bullets’ fourth goal of the afternoon.
Chaula turned provider again in the 67th minute, slipping Bannet through on goal for a composed finish before Kampira completed his own brace two minutes later with a superb solo effort. The defender won possession inside the Zingwangwa half, drove forward and calmly beat the goalkeeper to make it 6-0.
Kabichi introduced fresh legs during the second half, and the substitutes also made their mark. Alex White delivered a pinpoint corner in the 83rd minute that Feston Botoman powered home with a towering header to register Bullets’ seventh goal.
Zingwangwa United grabbed a late consolation through Jabulani Mwachilambo, but it did little to spoil another commanding afternoon for Kabichi’s youthful side.
Kabichi pleased but demands improvement
Despite the emphatic scoreline, Kabichi believes his young side still has plenty of room for improvement, particularly in front of goal.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate the boys for today’s victory. It was a good game, although we didn’t start the way we had planned. As the match progressed, we found our rhythm and managed to score two goals before half-time, which gave us confidence going into the second half.
“I’m happy with the result, but I’m not entirely satisfied with our overall performance because we missed too many clear scoring chances. We need to be more clinical in front of goal and make better use of the opportunities we create.
“This is a young team that is still growing and learning together. As coaches, it is our responsibility to guide them, support them and continue encouraging them to improve every day.
“I believe they have great potential, and if they keep working hard and remain disciplined, they will become the team we want them to be.
“This victory is important because it gives the players confidence, but we have to stay focused. We will go back to training, work on the areas that need improvement and prepare well for the next match.”
