FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19 beat CC Stars 2-1 in the 2026 FCB Katswiri Under-19 League at Kamuzu Stadium on Monday morning.
Ahmad Ayami opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Amidu Yahaya drew the visitors level six minutes later.
Osman George restored Bullets’ lead from the penalty spot ten minutes after the restart, with Yamikani Fodya’s side seeing out the contest to collect maximum points.
Ayami strikes as Bullets start brightly
Bullets started on the front foot, with George and Esau Kumwenda combining effectively as the hosts looked for an early breakthrough.
Kumwenda provided the first major warning when he tried his luck from distance, only to see his effort crash against the crossbar.
The pressure paid off in the 19th minute.
Chawanangwa Mhango created the opening from the right flank before finding Ayami, who converted to give the young Bullets the lead.
CC Stars were level six minutes later when Clement Karonga found Yahaya, whose powerful effort struck the post before finding the net.
Bullets continued to create opportunities before the interval, with George forcing goalkeeper Yamikani Farakeza into a save as the hosts looked to regain the lead.
The visitors posed problems of their own, and Hassan Assima was called into action to prevent CC Stars from completing the turnaround before the break.
The sides went into the interval level at 1-1 after a competitive opening 40 minutes.
George restores Bullets’ lead
The intensity continued after the restart as both teams looked to take command of the contest.
Ten minutes into the second half, Bullets regained the lead.
Mhango was brought down inside the penalty area and George stepped up to convert from the spot, making it 2-1.
The young Bullets had opportunities to increase the margin. Captain Hassan Madula beat Farakeza but sent his effort wide, while substitute Dickson Kameza also went close after his introduction.
CC Stars continued to threaten and won successive corners as they pushed for a second equaliser, but Assima dealt with the danger to keep Bullets in front.
The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute when goalscorer Yahaya was shown a red card for offensive language.
Bullets appeared to have put the contest beyond reach when Madula found the net, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
There was still work to do at the other end, where Assima produced another important intervention to deny Blessings Chimwaza.
Bullets managed the remaining minutes to protect their advantage and secure all three points.
The victory followed a 1-1 draw with Soche Madrid in their previous outing, with the young Bullets having sat out last week’s round of fixtures.
Learning through different situations
Bullets Under-19 head coach Yamikani Fodya was encouraged by the character his players showed after CC Stars cancelled out their early advantage.
“It was a difficult game and there were periods when they put us under pressure. We started well and took the lead, but they responded with the equaliser.
“What pleased me was the reaction from the players. They kept competing, found the second goal and showed the character we needed to see the game through.”
Having gone a week without competitive action, Fodya was also encouraged by his players’ performance on their return.
“We had gone a week without a competitive game, so I was very pleased with the performance. There were a lot of good things in the way we played, particularly the chances we created.
“There are positives we can take from this performance and continue building on.”
Fodya believes following the Soche Madrid draw with a victory represents another important step in the development of his young squad.
“For these young players, every game is part of the learning process. We drew our previous match and today we have responded with a win, and that is encouraging because it shows they are learning from different situations.
“Results like this can give them confidence, but the important thing is to keep improving from one game to the next.”
