The Blantyre mini-derby comes to Kamuzu Stadium this Saturday as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves host Mighty Wanderers Reserves in a high-stakes SRFA FINCA Division One League clash.
Three points, local bragging rights and a potential rise to second place are all on the line when the two city rivals meet.
With the FDH Bank Premiership on a break, the spotlight turns to the next generation of Blantyre football, giving supporters another big fixture to savour at Kamuzu Stadium.

Henry Kabichi’s side heads into Saturday’s contest third on the league table with 28 points from 13 matches and in excellent form.
Bullets are riding a seven-match winning streak, with their most recent result a 4-1 victory over Ntopwa FC on August 23. Before that, they beat Ekhaya Reserves 2-1 away, defeated Liberty FC 1-0, thrashed Zingwangwa United 7-1 and beat Chilomoni FC 4-1.

Wanderers Reserves are also enjoying a strong run, having gone unbeaten in their last five matches. Their most recent result was a 2-2 draw against Immigration FC on September 7, following wins against Chiradzulu United, Mwanza United, Zingwangwa United and FC Thondwe.
The young Nomads have scored 12 goals and conceded three during that five-match run, making Saturday’s derby a meeting between two sides in strong form.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Saturday’s meeting renews a rivalry that has produced tight contests in recent seasons, with defensive organisation and narrow margins often defining the junior Blantyre derby.
The most recent league meeting, in January 2026, ended 0-0 at Kamuzu Stadium. That followed a 2-0 victory for Wanderers Reserves in the previous league encounter in August 2025.
Wanderers Reserves have gone unbeaten in the last four meetings, with two wins and two draws across league and cup competition. They have also kept clean sheets in each of those four matches.
The rivalry has not always favoured the junior Nomads. Bullets recorded a 3-0 home victory in June 2023, their most recent win in the fixture.
With the last four meetings producing no match in which both sides scored, the first goal could once again prove decisive on Saturday.

Henzie Manganyera is ruled out after suffering a knock to his knee, while Movic Banda and Alex White are unavailable due to illness.

Despite the absences, the ex-Bullets midfielder remains confident in the depth available to him.

Kabichi is pleased with the team’s preparations and believes his players are ready for the derby.

The two-week break has affected their competitive rhythm, but Kabichi says the focus has been on making sure the young players are mentally ready.

While beating their city rivals would be significant, Kabichi wants his players to concentrate on their performance rather than the league table.
“Of course, a win against our rivals would be important, but we should not focus too much on the log table. We need to focus on doing the right things on the pitch.”
