Report: Bullets U19s draw 0-0 with Manchester Motors

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19 played out a 0-0 draw with Manchester Motors in the FCB Katswiri Under-19 League at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Yamikani Fodya’s side created openings through Blessings Lungu, Kelvin Phiri and Hassan Madula in the first half but could not find the breakthrough.

Raphael Twalo came closest for the hosts when his second-half effort struck the crossbar, while Osman George was denied late on as the points were shared.

Bullets Create First-Half Openings

Bullets started brightly and created an early opportunity in the fourth minute when Blessings Masamba spotted Lungu’s run and played him through, but the forward sent his effort wide.

Manchester Motors responded through Moses Joseph, who sent an effort wide following a corner.

Masamba was involved again in the 15th minute, delivering an inviting ball across the face of goal, but there was no Bullets player on hand to apply the finish.

The hosts threatened through Fasan Lipenga, whose delivery travelled across goal before he sent another effort wide moments later.

Bullets went close in the 39th minute when George set up Phiri, but Motors goalkeeper Dave Milanzie made the save.

Madula then got on the end of Joel Maziya’s pass but found the side netting as the teams went into the interval level.

Chances At Both Ends After The Break

Manchester Motors resumed with greater attacking intent, but Bullets remained organised at the back.

The hosts came closest to breaking the deadlock on the hour when Twalo’s effort struck the crossbar.

Bullets made their first change moments later, with Hopeson Nkhata replacing Mike Kalanda, before Dickson Kameza came on for Lungu in the 69th minute.

Motors threatened again when Lipenga delivered an excellent ball into the area for Twalo, but the forward was unable to convert.

Bullets pushed for a late winner in the 80th minute when Kameza delivered an excellent ball into the box for George, whose effort was kept out by Milanzie.

Neither side could find the breakthrough as the contest finished goalless.

Fodya Reflects On The Performance

Speaking after the match, Fodya was pleased with his players’ application while emphasising their continued development.

“It was a good game from both sides. We did not create many shots today, but I am happy with the way the boys played. These are young players, and what we need from them is to apply what we are teaching them and, most importantly, enjoy their football.

“They played well today, although there are still a few areas we need to work on in training. Our main aim is not necessarily to win the league, but to develop these players and prepare them for the future.

“Of course, having a winning mentality is important, but development remains our priority.”
