Report: New boys strike as Bullets beat Extreme 4-2

Alihaji Mnjale and Tinaye Tsimba scored their first goals for Bullets as The People’s Team defeated Extreme FC 4-2 in Sunday’s midseason friendly at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets concluded their midseason programme with a 4-2 victory over Extreme FC in Mchinji on Sunday afternoon.

Mnjale headed Bullets in front in the 12th minute before Chikumbutso Belo levelled for the hosts as the sides went into the break at 1-1.

Frank Willard restored the lead in the 59th minute and George Chaomba made it 3-1 five minutes later. Substitute Chifundo Ngochera pulled one back for Extreme before Tsimba converted an 80th-minute penalty to complete the scoring.

Mnjale and Tsimba joined The People’s Team during the midseason transfer window, alongside Liberian midfielder Sheku Sheriff.

The result completed back-to-back victories for Wedson Nyirenda’s side following last weekend’s 2-0 win over Changalume Barracks at Zomba Stadium.

Mnjale Opens His Account

Bullets started brightly and thought they had taken the lead in the eighth minute when Chaomba picked out Tsimba, who found the net, but the forward was flagged offside.

The breakthrough arrived four minutes later.

Peter Banda delivered a corner into the box and Mnjale rose highest to head beyond Joseph Fulawo for his first Bullets goal.

Pilirani Mapira was called into action in the 25th minute, producing a fine close-range save to deny the hosts before Bullets dealt with the resulting corner.

At the other end, Sheriff won a free-kick in an advanced position, but Willard’s effort was gathered by Fulawo.

Willard went close again on the half-hour mark, firing a powerful effort over the crossbar.

Extreme Draw Level

The hosts equalised in the 32nd minute when Belo found space and fired beyond Mapira from range.

Bullets almost regained the lead two minutes later when Chaomba picked out Tsimba, but the striker’s effort came back off the post.

Tsimba then won a free-kick in a promising position, only for Willard’s effort to go straight at Fulawo.

Extreme had the ball in the net in the 39th minute, but the flag was already up for offside.

Peter Banda created another opening two minutes later, finding Tsimba inside the box, but the forward fired over.

Tony Phiri had the final opportunity of the half from a free-kick, which Mapira gathered comfortably as the teams went into the interval level.

Bullets Take Control

Nyirenda made five changes at half-time, introducing Innocent Nyasulu, Paul Master, Wongani Lungu, Prince Chiumia and Emmanuel Kaunga for Mapira, Sheriff, Peter Banda, Aaron Chilipa and Ahmad Kung’unde.

Master’s introduction marked the midfielder’s return to action after recovering from a knee injury.

Extreme made their first change in the 50th minute, with Ngochera replacing Mazuzo Banda.

Fulawo produced two saves in quick succession six minutes later, first denying Willard before keeping out Maxwell Phodo.

The pressure paid off in the 59th minute when a well-worked Bullets move ended with Willard powering his effort beyond Fulawo to restore the lead.

Five minutes later, Lungu released Chaomba with a well-weighted through ball and the forward raced clear before finding the far corner to make it 3-1.

Ngochera reduced the deficit in the 68th minute to bring Extreme back into the contest.

Nyirenda made another change a minute later, introducing Sean McBrams for Phodo.

Bullets continued to create openings, with Lungu firing over before Chaomba met Yamikani Mologeni’s delivery from the right but sent his effort over the crossbar.

Tsimba Seals the Win

The fourth arrived in the 80th minute.

Tsimba burst into the penalty area and was brought down by Fulawo, who was booked for the challenge.

The forward stepped up and converted the resulting penalty to open his Bullets account and restore the two-goal advantage.

Nyasulu produced a fine close-range save four minutes later before McBrams headed narrowly wide from Mologeni’s delivery.

Extreme made their second change in the 86th minute, with Matias Chimbalanga replacing captain Gregory Mwase.

Tsimba thought he had added his second in the 89th minute with a well-taken finish, but the assistant referee raised the flag for offside.

Bullets saw out three minutes of added time to complete their midseason programme with another victory.

The People’s Team return to competitive action against Blue Eagles at Mpira Stadium on 11 October when the second round of the FDH Bank Premiership gets underway.
