Report: Billiat brilliance seals victory over Masters

An assist and a superb individual winner from Misheck Billiat secured a league double over Masters FC and a fourth successive victory for The People’s Team.

Misheck Billiat delivered the decisive moment as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defeated Masters FC 2-1 at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday to maintain our perfect start to the FDH Bank Premiership second round.

The winger created Clever Kalambo’s opener before Frank Sanudi brought the hosts level just before half-time. Billiat then settled the contest in the 61st minute, beating three defenders before unleashing a powerful finish beyond Richard Chimbamba.

Victory takes Wedson Nyirenda’s men to 42 points from 19 matches and extends our unbeaten league run to eight games.

The result also completes a league double over Masters following June’s 1-0 victory at Mpira Stadium.

Bullets Set The Early Tempo

Nyirenda made two changes from the side that defeated Civil Service United, recalling Innocent Nyasulu and Billiat in place of MacLean Mwale and Peter Banda.

Nyasulu returned after missing the Civil encounter following his father’s passing, while Billiat joined Kalambo and Ephraim Kondowe in attack.

Bullets started brightly, winning successive set pieces as we looked to establish control.

Emmanuel Kaunga met Yamikani Mologeni’s delivery from our second corner in the eighth minute, but his header went straight at Chimbamba.

Masters responded when Hassan Kajoke found Hastings Ndau on the right, only for the winger to fire over the crossbar.

Yankho Singo’s good work earned another corner in the 15th minute. The delivery caused problems inside the hosts’ defence, but Kondowe could not convert after finding space in the six-yard box.

Late Goals Leave It Level

Nyasulu gathered Precious Sambani’s free-kick after Blessings Mpokera fouled Mike Mkwate, before Bullets had the ball in the net on the half-hour mark.

The effort followed a Chimbamba error, but it was disallowed for offside.

Bullets continued to dictate play, with Chimbamba saving from Kalambo as we searched for the breakthrough.

Nyirenda introduced Tinaye Tsimba for Wongani Lungu in the 36th minute, while Masters brought on Sanudi for Henry Chiwaya.

The hosts then threatened from a set piece after a short corner led to a free-kick on the edge of our penalty area, but Stimella Muyira fired over.

Our pressure was rewarded in the 45th minute when Billiat delivered a superb cross from the right and Kalambo supplied the finish to put Bullets ahead.

Masters responded almost immediately, with Kajoke making a strong run and setting up substitute Sanudi to equalise.

The quick response sent the sides into the break level and ended our run of seven successive league clean sheets.

Nyasulu Stands Firm

George Chaomba replaced Kondowe at the restart, while Masters introduced Vincent Mark for Mkwate.

The hosts began the second half strongly and almost took the lead in the 51st minute.

Nyasulu’s save fell to Kajoke, but the forward fired wide with the goal at his mercy.

The goalkeeper was called upon again five minutes later, denying Ndau and conceding a corner.

Nyirenda made a double change in the 57th minute, introducing Paul Master and Madalitso Safuli for Kalambo and Chawanangwa Gumbo.

Billiat Restores The Advantage

Four minutes later, Billiat produced a moment of outstanding quality.

The winger beat three defenders before driving a powerful effort past Chimbamba to restore our lead.

Having created the opener, Billiat had restored our advantage with a superb individual strike.

Safuli subsequently fired over from outside the penalty area before Nyasulu again denied Ndau, with Bullets defending the resulting corner.

Masters introduced Patrick Phiri and Blessings Mofolo for Mark and Rafik Namwera in the 70th minute as they sought another response.

Bullets See It Through

Prince Chiumia dealt with Mofolo’s free-kick before Chimbamba saved from Tsimba at the other end as Bullets pursued a third goal.

Tsimba and Sydney Yobu were both booked in the 81st minute, with Sambani also cautioned seven minutes later for a foul on the Bullets forward.

Kondwani Tebulo replaced Chaomba in the 90th minute, while Chimbamba denied Master as the match entered its closing stages.

Four minutes of added time brought one final set-piece threat from the hosts, but Kaunga cleared Sambani’s delivery after a foul by Safuli.

Bullets protected the advantage through to the final whistle to secure another three points from Lilongwe.

Billiat’s assist and match-winning strike earned him the Official Player of the Match award as The People’s Team made it four wins from four since the restart.
