Held goalless in the reverse fixture, Bullets Reserves face Chiradzulu United again with a chance to move nine points clear at the summit.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves will seek a return to winning ways when they host Chiradzulu United at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday in the SRFA FINCA Division One League. Kick-off is at 15:00.
The young Bullets head into the encounter following a goalless draw against Nyambadwe United, a result that ended their eleven-match winning run but extended their unbeaten league sequence to twelve.
Bullets remain top of the standings on 41 points, with victory offering an opportunity to move nine points clear of second-placed Ekhaya FC.
Chiradzulu present another test of the Reserves’ attacking efficiency after holding Bullets to a goalless draw in the first-round meeting away in Chiradzulu.
The hosts also found no way through against Nyambadwe last weekend despite enjoying spells of possession and creating opportunities in both halves.
Turning those openings into goals has been a focus of preparations as the technical panel seeks a sharper attacking performance on Saturday.
Assistant coach Gift Nyirenda continues to lead the side in the absence of head coach Henry Kabichi, who is attending a CAF C coaching course in the Central Region.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Nyirenda said the players had responded positively to the work on the training ground.
“We have been working on finding our rhythm back as a team, correcting the areas where we have not been doing well and making sure that we get the right results. The boys have responded well in training, and we are looking forward to putting that into practice on Saturday.”
Nyirenda also stressed the need for discipline against visitors who proved difficult to break down in the reverse fixture.
“We know it will not be an easy game because Chiradzulu United gave us a tough challenge in the first round. We have to approach this match with the right mentality, remain disciplined and take our chances when they come.”
Applying their work in training will be central to that task, according to Nyirenda.
“We want to get back to winning ways, and the most important thing is for the players to implement what we have been working on in training. If we do that, we believe we can get the positive result we are looking for,” he said.
Bullets will, however, be without Feston Botomani, Kondwani Mhone and Alex White, who are all ruled out through injury.
Having drawn blanks against Nyambadwe last weekend and Chiradzulu in the reverse fixture, the Reserves will need greater precision in front of goal to turn their unbeaten momentum into another victory.
