Bullets to start Super League title defence at home

Nyasa Big Bullets will begin the TNM Super League title defence with a home fixture against last season’s bronze medalists Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium on 21 March.

The first round of the 2020 season is scheduled to kick-off on 21-22 March and The People’s Team will host the Lilongwe police side on the opening day, according to the initial roster released by the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) on Wednesday.

The two teams will be meeting after sharing three points apiece last season, with Blue Eagles claiming a 2-1 win at Nankhaka in the opening round, before Bullets walloped the visitors 4-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in the second round.

This season The People’s Team will be chasing a third consecutive title after bagging the 2018 and 2019 elite league titles.

Last season Bullets won the championship with 70 points, a point above rivals Be Forward Wanderers.

The People’s Team will be going into the 2020 season without registering a loss at home for the past seven seasons on top of winning the league for a record 15 times.
