Chirwa names starting XI for Wanderers clash

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have named their starting XI for this afternoon’s NBS Bank Charity Shield clash against rivals Mighty Wanderers at Bingu National Stadium.

Head Coach Gilbert Chirwa has named his first squad of the 2026/27 season, selecting a strong side for the derby as The People’s Team look to set the tone from the outset.

The People’s Team begin with Innocent Nyasulu in goal, shielded by a backline of Yamikani Mologeni, captain Blessings Mpokera, Emmanuel Kaunga and Henry Chiwaya.

Kaunga is one of two new faces in the starting XI and partners Mpokera in central defence, as Bullets look to establish a solid foundation at the back.

In midfield, Yankho Singo, Chawanangwa Gumbo and Mike Mkwate are tasked with setting the tempo and linking play as The People’s Team aim to assert control in the middle of the park.

Further forward, George Chaomba makes his debut in the front three alongside Hassan Kajoke, who leads the line, and Maxwell Phodo on the opposite flank, completing an attacking unit capable of posing a constant threat.

On the bench, Pilirani Mapira and Clever Kalambo provide additional options for Chirwa, alongside youngster Misheck Billiat, who has been promoted to the first team from the reserves.

Andrew Jovinala, Paul Master, Frank Willard, Wongani Lungu, Peter Banda and Ephraim Kondowe complete the list of substitutes.

The People’s Team will be aiming to make an immediate statement in the derby and start the season on a strong note.
