Head coach Wedson Nyirenda has provided an update on three players training with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as the technical panel continues shaping the squad for the remainder of the season.
Liberian midfielder Sheku Sheriff, Zimbabwean striker Tinaye Tsimba and Malawi defender Hadji Minjale are working with the first-team group as Nyirenda considers potential additions to his ranks.
Asked about the new faces during Thursday’s pre-match press conference, the Bullets coach confirmed that Sheriff and Tsimba remain under assessment.
“They are being assessed. We cannot say much about them yet, but we are still assessing them,” he said of the foreign duo.
Minjale has been part of the first-team environment after captaining the Malawi university team at the 2026 CUCSA Games in Botswana a month ago.
The defender has caught Nyirenda’s eye with his composure, reading of the game and controlled approach to defending.
“Hadji has really impressed me. He is a very good player,” the head coach said.
“At his age, he is doing everything we need. He is a calm and composed defender, not a rough player, and he is very intelligent. I have already sanctioned his signing.”
Nyirenda’s endorsement represents the technical green light for Minjale, although any move into the first-team squad remains subject to the club completing its formal recruitment and registration processes.
With the transfer window in Malawi opening on 22 August, the technical panel is continuing its evaluation work before decisions are made on the composition of the squad.
Nyirenda indicated that the assessments form part of a wider rebuilding programme as he balances the immediate competitive demands of the 2026/27 campaign with the longer-term evolution of his team.
Bullets have already parted company with Mike Mkwate and Khumbo Banda, with further movement possible as the head coach looks to establish the right balance within the group.
“As much as we are bringing in players, once we are sure about those coming into our rebuilding process, we will also be offloading some,” he explained.
Nyirenda did not put a figure on potential departures, saying the balance between incoming and outgoing players would be determined by the outcome of the club’s recruitment work.
Sheriff and Tsimba remain under assessment, while Minjale’s proposed addition moves through the club’s formal processes ahead of the opening of the transfer window.
