FDH Cup semis rescheduled – Blantyre derby on Sunday

The Football Association of Malawi has confirmed a revised schedule for the 2025 FDH Bank Cup semi-finals, with The People’s Team now set to face city rivals Mighty Wanderers on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Initially, the two Blantyre giants were scheduled to clash on Saturday, 1 November, with Civil Service United meeting Silver Strikers the following day. However, the latest update has seen the fixtures swapped, meaning the Blantyre derby will now take place on Sunday.

Why the Fixture Has Changed

The adjustment follows confirmation that Kamuzu Stadium will host other activities on Saturday. Consequently, the Lilongwe derby between Civil Service United and Silver Strikers has been brought forward to Saturday, 1 November, at Bingu National Stadium, while the Blantyre derby has been moved to Sunday, 2 November.

The fixtures, to kick off at 14:30, have also been separated to allow full live broadcast coverage of both semi-finals.

Derby Week Continues

The semi-final showdown comes just a week after the two sides met in the TNM Super League at the same venue on Sunday afternoon — a match that ended 3-0 in favour of Wanderers.

With a place in the FDH Bank Cup Final up for grabs, The People’s Team will be eager to respond strongly and reclaim city bragging rights in front of the Maule faithful.

Bullets advanced to the semifinals after a 2-1 victory over Kamuzu Barracks in the quarterfinals, courtesy of goals from Ephraim Kondowe and Hassan Kajoke, while Wanderers booked their place following a 3-2 penalty shoot-out win over Creck Sporting Club in Mchinji after a stalemate in regulation time.

Looking Ahead
