Babatunde set for 100th Bullets appearance

Nigerian striker Babatunde Adepoju is set to mark a major milestone in his FCB Nyasa Big Bullets career, with the forward in line to make his 100th appearance for the club when The People’s Team host Ekhaya FC in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Since joining from cross-town rivals Mighty Wanderers on 1 July 2021, Babatunde has enjoyed two highly productive spells with the club, becoming one of the most prolific and decorated players in recent Bullets history. He heads into the midweek fixture with 99 appearances and 82 goal contributions in all competitions.

A Glittering First Spell

Babatunde’s first stint at Bullets, from July 2021 to January 2023, saw the striker make 46 appearances and register 44 goal contributions—scoring 34 goals and assisting 10. His performances were instrumental in helping the club win five major trophies during that period, including two TNM Super League titles, an Airtel Top 8 Cup, the FDH Bank Cup, and the Charity Shield.

The forward’s standout displays earned him three Golden Boot awards and multiple Player of the Tournament honours across domestic competitions.

A Triumphant Return

After a move to South Africa’s Venda Football Club, Babatunde returned to Bullets on loan in January 2024 and immediately picked up where he left off. He found the net 18 times and assisted 11 goals in 41 appearances that season.

Despite a challenging campaign in which the team missed out on three of the four trophies we had secured in 2023, Babatunde played a vital role in helping Bullets retain the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

In January 2025, the striker extended his loan deal and has continued to deliver on the pitch. So far this season, he has scored six goals and registered three assists in 12 appearances, playing a crucial role in helping the team reach the summit of the TNM Super League standings and progress to the 2025 Airtel Top 8 final, where we will face Silver Strikers on 12 July.

Century Beckons

Should he feature on Wednesday, Babatunde will become one of the players in the club’s modern era to reach 100 appearances—a testament to his quality, consistency, and importance to the team over the years.

Kick-off against Ekhaya FC is scheduled for 14h30 CAT at Kamuzu Stadium.
