23-man squad named for back-to-back away fixtures

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have named a 23-man squad for back-to-back TNM Super League away fixtures against Mzuzu City Hammers and MAFCO.

The team departed on Tuesday for the Northern Region, where they will first take on Mzuzu City Hammers at Rumphi Stadium on Thursday, before travelling to the Central Region to face MAFCO at Champion Stadium on Sunday.

Among the first-time travellers going North is Zambian left-back Dominic Musonda, who started both in our Airtel Top 8 final triumph against Silver Strikers last week as well as Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Blue Eagles.

Youngster Edward Thengo also keeps his place in the squad, while Blessings Joseph, who brings more senior experience despite joining us in January, travels with the team for the first time since his arrival from Chitipa United.

Defender Chikumbutso Henderson, who joined The People’s Team earlier this season and is yet to feature in a competitive match, is also part of the squad heading to the North. The former Mzuzu City Hammers player will be hoping to face his old club for the first time since making the switch to Blantyre.

Andrew Jovinala and Paul Master are also making their first trip to the North with The People’s Team. Jovinala, a versatile defender who joined in January, has already made 11 appearances across all competitions this season. Master, a midfielder signed in May, made his full TNM Super League debut on Sunday against his former club, Blue Eagles, and will be aiming to continue building momentum as Bullets take on two crucial away assignments.

Sean McBrams, a wing attacker who has already featured in the league this season, returns to the squad after missing our recent trip to Lilongwe for the Airtel Top 8 Final and Sunday’s league fixture at Kamuzu Stadium.

Meanwhile, new signing Khumbo Banda, who agreed to a two-year deal this week, will have to wait until the transfer window opens on 8 August to complete his registration and begin featuring for the 17-time Super League of Malawi champions.

The two away games mark a crucial phase in the first round of the season as The People’s Team aim to bounce back following last weekend’s home loss and close the gap in the title race.
