Bullets draw Kamuzu Barracks in FDH Cup Quarterfinals

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will play against Kamuzu Barracks in the 2025 FDH Bank Cup quarterfinals, setting up a highly anticipated tie as the race for the prestigious trophy heats up.

The draw was conducted on Monday afternoon at halftime during the final Round of 16 fixture between Bangwe All Stars and Kamuzu Barracks at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe. After a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time, the Lilongwe-based side booked their place in the last eight with a 3-1 victory in the post-match penalties.

The Road to the Quarterfinals

Bullets stormed into the quarterfinals with a dominant 3-0 win over The Boys SFC at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday. Goals from Blessings Mpokera, Mike Mkwate and Chikumbutso Salima ensured a comfortable progression for The People’s Team.

Earlier in the competition, Maule kicked off their FDH Cup campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over second-tier outfit Chilumba Barracks in the Round of 32.

Eyes on the Trophy

Having lifted the FDH Bank Cup twice—in 2022 and 2023—Bullets are eyeing a return to the final after missing out last season.

The team now sets its sights on overcoming Kamuzu Barracks to move a step closer to reclaiming the silverware.

Fixture details for the quarterfinal clash, including the date, venue, and kick-off time, will be confirmed and communicated by the Football Association of Malawi in due course.

Bullets vs KB in Knockout History

It will be the first time the two sides face off in the FDH Bank Cup.

However, Bullets and Kamuzu Barracks do share some history in other cup competitions. In the 2013 Carlsberg Cup, Kamuzu Barracks edged Bullets 1-0 at Dedza Stadium courtesy of a Harvey Nkacha strike.

Four years later, in the same competition, Bullets advanced after a dramatic 5-4 win on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Most recently, in the 2024 Airtel Top 8, Maule defeated KB 2-0 in the semifinals with goals from Ephraim Kondowe and Blessings Mpokera to reach the final, which Bullets eventually won.
