FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are delighted to announce the signing of Henry Chiwaya, who joins the club on a two-year contract.
The 24-year-old left back arrives as a free agent following his departure from Nyambadwe United, a Southern Region Premier League side he represented during the 2024 season.
Prior to that, Chiwaya played for TNM Super League clubs Wizards FC, Mighty Tigers, and Karonga United.
Chiwaya spent a month on trials with Bullets and impressed by featuring in all three pre-season matches in which we suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Kamuzu Barracks but secured 1-0 victories over Creck Sporting Club and Ekhaya United, ultimately winning the 2025 Sapitwa 4 championship.
Expressing his excitement, Chiwaya said:
“Joining the country’s biggest team means the world to me. I’m grateful to God for this opportunity, and I want to thank the head coach, the technical team, and the Board for trusting me and offering me this contract.
“I am committed to working hard to deliver for the team and repay their faith in me. While I can’t make promises, as football is unpredictable, I’ll give it my all to meet the club’s high expectations.
“I’ve worked with coach Peter Mponda before during my time at Wizards, and that experience will help me adapt quickly to this new environment.”
Mponda said:
“We had a gap on the left side [of defence] due to Chrispin Mapemba’s injury. This made it necessary to bring in at least two left-backs, especially with the season starting this weekend and uncertainty around Chrispin’s return. Chiwaya is a solid wingback, and with Dominic [Musonda] signing last week, I’m confident we’re covered.”
