Referee Zebron Lengani has been confirmed by the Super League of Malawi to take charge of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ midweek TNM Super League clash against Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
This will be Lengani’s first Bullets assignment of the 2025 season, but the experienced official is no stranger to The People’s Team.
Lengani last took charge of a Bullets game on 7 December 2024, when we hosted Kamuzu Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium. That outing was part of a campaign in which he handled five Bullets fixtures in various officiating roles.
Over the past four seasons, Lengani has officiated eleven matches involving Bullets, including the 2-0 victory over Chitipa United on 29 August 2021. That match is remembered for a controversial red card shown to Hassan Kajoke after a challenge on goalkeeper George Chikooka, who now plays for Silver Strikers.
That decision was overturned on appeal, with Sulom’s review revealing concerns over the call, stating:
“Players collided as a result of their movements in order to challenge for the ball and none of them had control of the incident. The referee [Zebron Lengani] position was a bit far away from area of the incident contrary to the laws of the game.”
It remains one of several decisions under Lengani’s watch that have drawn scrutiny in Bullets fixtures over the years.
Match officials for Wednesday’s fixture also include Wales Chisi, who returns as assistant referee after last officiating in the Bullets v Kamuzu Barracks match in December. This will be his fourth involvement in a Bullets fixture over the past three seasons.
Siyame Chitambo, also on the line, will be handling only his second Bullets match, having made his debut in our 3-0 win over Chitipa United on 18 May 2025.
Honest Maulana takes up the fourth official role. He was in charge of that same match against Chitipa — his first time officiating a Bullets fixture as the centre referee.
Paul Mhango, appointed as match assessor for Wednesday’s fixture, will be involved in a Bullets match for the second time this season. His previous assignment came last month when he assessed our home game against Kamuzu Barracks.
With a place in the Airtel Top 8 final already secured, focus now shifts back to league business. The midweek encounter against Moyale Barracks, kicking off at 14:30 at Kamuzu Stadium, presents an opportunity for The People’s Team to reclaim top spot in the TNM Super League standings.
Bullets, who were not involved in a league match over the weekend, currently sit second on the table with 21 points from eight matches. Rivals Mighty Wanderers climbed to the summit with 22 points after defeating Dedza Dynamos 2-0 on Sunday, also having played eight games.
With the race at the top heating up and a familiar officiating team assigned, Wednesday’s showdown promises another intense and crucial outing for The People’s Team.
