Munthali seals six-month return to Bullets

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are delighted to confirm the return of forward Bright Munthali, who has signed a six-month contract with the club.

The 29-year-old marks his comeback to The People’s Team three years after departing in 2022.

Munthali joined Mozambican side Associação Desportiva de Vilankulo after leaving Bullets, spending a season and a half there and scoring seven goals in all competitions before returning to Malawi in 2024. He later had a short stint training with Bangwe All Stars but did not feature in competitive matches.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Munthali expressed his gratitude for another opportunity to represent the red and white.

“It’s exciting that I’m back and I don’t take it for granted. I thank God that I’ve been given a second chance to play for this team again,” he said.

On Motivation to Return

“What kept me going was knowing that I’m a good player and I know what I’m capable of. When I left, I knew my job here wasn’t finished, and I told myself that one day I would be back,” he explained.

The forward also shared his ambitions for his second spell with Bullets.

“When you play for a team like Bullets, everyone’s ambition is to take their career outside of Malawi, and that’s my goal again. My return wasn’t performance-related — there were reasons outside football that brought me home.”

Looking Ahead

Munthali believes he can play a key role in helping the club achieve even more success.

“The team has achieved a lot since I left, and just recently won the Airtel Top 8 Cup. Bullets has a very good squad, but I believe I can break into the first XI and help the team achieve more.”

The striker will be working again with head coach Peter Mponda, who was part of the technical staff as assistant to Kalisto Pasuwa during his previous spell at the club.

“It’s not my first time working with coach Mponda because he was here when I left. It won’t be a challenge working under him again.”

Message to the Fans

“Maule fans should expect nothing but good things from me. It’s a different journey now.”

Coach’s View

Mponda welcomed Munthali’s return, highlighting the experience he brings to the squad.

“Bright is a player who knows the culture of this club and has played at a high level both locally and abroad. He’s coming in with experience that can help us in the run-in, and we believe he will add value on and off the pitch,” said the Bullets head coach.

Munthali’s deal will run until the end of the 2025 season.
