FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda has reserved special praise for defender Blessings Mpokera, describing the 23-year-old as a “true example of hard work and perseverance” following a string of standout performances this season.
Mpokera, who has risen through the club’s youth ranks—from the development side to the reserves and now the first team—has become an integral figure in Bullets’ strong start to the 2025 campaign.
The defender’s emergence comes as The People’s Team continue to impress across all fronts, currently sitting top of the TNM Super League, having reached the Airtel Top 8 final, and boasting 10 clean sheets in 13 matches in all competitions.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s fixture against Civil Service United, Mponda reflected on Mpokera’s journey, particularly his patience and determination during a challenging 2024 season.
“He is a true example of hard work and perseverance, especially when things aren’t going your way,” Mponda said. “Last season, he was one of the players who didn’t get much game time. It was a frustrating period for him, but instead of letting that frustration lead him astray, he used it as motivation to prove his worth when given the chance.”
Now firmly part of the starting lineup and with multiple Player of the Match awards to his name this season, Mpokera’s performances continue to turn heads.
“Despite not playing regularly last season, he never gave up or resorted to negativity. He continued to train hard, stayed focused, and maintained a strong work ethic,” added Mponda.
“Today, not only is he getting the opportunity to play, but he’s also making the most of it by continuing to give his best. He stands as a shining example of resilience, discipline, and the rewards of staying committed even in difficult times.”
