Peter Mponda names team for Karonga Clash

Head coach Peter Mponda has named his starting XI for this afternoon’s TNM Super League encounter against Karonga United at Karonga Stadium.

The gaffer makes several changes to the side that edged Mafco FC 1-0 last Sunday, with Mike Mkwate and Peter Banda returning to the starting XI after both came off the bench in that win.

In defence, Blessings Joseph replaces Andrew Jovinala, while Dominic Musonda comes in for Henry Chiwaya.

Captain Frank Willard will anchor the midfield alongside Wongani Lungu and Paul Master, while Chikumbutso Salima and Banda will provide the attacking width in support of centre-forward Ephraim Kondowe.

Mponda also welcomes the return of Yankho Singo, who has been sidelined for several weeks, with the midfielder making the bench. New signings Khumbo Banda and Bright Munthali are not part of the matchday squad for this fixture.

Starting XI: Nyasulu, Joseph, Mpokera, Musonda, Willard (c), Master, Lungu, Mkwate, P. Banda, Salima, Kondowe.

Substitutes: Chimbamba, Singo, Chiwaya, Mologeni, Gumbo, Petro, Phodo, Babatunde, Gamphani.

This fixture carries plenty of significance as the final game of the first round of the TNM Super League. Bullets enter the match eager to build on their recent win over Mafco and close the gap on league leaders Mighty Wanderers. A victory here could strengthen our position in the title race and boost momentum heading into the second round.

Karonga United, sixth on the table, have proven to be a stubborn opponent with a resilient. away record, making this clash a tough test for Bullets. The People’s Team will need to be at their best to secure maximum points.

Kick-off at Karonga Stadium is scheduled for 14:30.
