Goshen City Dedza Dynamos may sit 14th in the FDH Bank Premiership standings, but assistant coach Heston Munthali insists FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will pay little attention to the table when the two sides meet on Saturday.
The People’s Team travel to Dedza Stadium looking to return to winning ways following last weekend’s goalless draw against Ekhaya FC.
Munthali nevertheless expects a difficult encounter against a side playing on familiar ground.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash, the Bullets assistant coach stressed that the focus must remain on producing the required performance and collecting maximum points.
“Playing Dedza in Dedza is difficult, but we have played and won there before. It would be very good for the team to win in Dedza because it would help us rise in the standings, but we are not looking at the table; we are looking at the game. First of all, we must encourage the players to go there, play and bring home three points.”
Dedza Stadium has proved a demanding venue for Bullets since the hosts joined the top flight. The People’s Team have recorded one win, one draw and one defeat from three league visits.
Those results show steady progress, from a 1–0 defeat in 2023 to a 1–1 draw the following season before Chikumbutso Salima’s late strike secured a 1–0 victory last year.
Bullets also travel to the Central Region with an unbeaten away record this campaign, having registered victories over Kamuzu Barracks and Mighty Wanderers alongside draws against Civil Service United and Blue Eagles.
Those results have strengthened confidence within the squad as The People’s Team prepare for another assignment away from home.
“They are approaching the game with a good attitude. Considering the matches we have played away, we have won two, so they are confident that we can win in Dedza. We just need to focus and play our normal game.”
Bullets remain the only unbeaten side in the FDH Bank Premiership this campaign, having recorded five wins and five draws from 10 matches.
The People’s Team head into Saturday’s fixture third with 20 points, one behind Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers, who occupy first and second place respectively, while Goshen City sit 14th with eight points.
