FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda has confirmed Frank Willard as the club’s new first team captain, following the recent departure of former skipper Lloyd Aaron.
The appointment signals a new leadership era at The People’s Team, with Mponda finalising a captaincy structure that will guide the squad through the remainder of the 2025 season.
Willard will be supported by Nigerian forward Babatunde Adepoju as first vice captain and defender Blessings Mpokera as second vice captain.
“We believe Frank is the right man to lead this group,” said Mponda. “He is calm, disciplined and commands respect both on and off the pitch. With Babatunde and Mpokera alongside him, we are confident the dressing room is in good hands.”
At 25, Willard is one of the squad’s most experienced and consistent figures. He joined Bullets in 2020 through the reserves, had a short stint with MAFCO in 2022, and returned to the club later that year.
In March, he signed a contract extension to stay at Bullets until July 2028. The midfielder has made 86 appearances for the club, including 15 this season, where he continues to anchor the midfield with discipline and composure.
Babatunde and Mpokera have also been standout performers this season. The Nigerian striker adds attacking flair and maturity, while Mpokera has been ever-present in defence with consistent and commanding displays.
As Bullets gear up to wrap up the first round of the TNM Super League at home to Karonga United this weekend, the new-look leadership trio is expected to play a key role—both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
