Inside Bullets: What’s in Store This Week

With the 2025 season in full swing, it’s shaping up to be another big week for the entire FCB Nyasa Big Bullets family. From a blockbuster cup final in the capital to important league fixtures for the reserves and youth teams, there’s plenty to look forward to.

While our women’s team continues preparations ahead of the new national league, three other teams are locked in and ready for action — including one chasing silverware.

Here’s a look at what’s happening across The People’s Team this week.

First Team – Airtel Top 8 Final vs Silver Strikers

All eyes will be on Lilongwe this weekend as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets face Silver Strikers in the 2025 Airtel Top 8 final at Bingu National Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 15:00 on Sunday, 20 July.

This will be our third Airtel Top 8 final meeting against The Bankers and the sixth overall encounter in the competition. Bullets have dominated this rivalry, winning all three previous finals and a semifinal clash. Silver’s only victory came in a two-legged quarterfinal.

The defending champions remain unbeaten in their last four Airtel Top 8 ties against Sunday’s opponents — a run that head coach Peter Mponda, who previously led Silver in last season’s final and now guides Bullets, will be keen to extend as we chase back-to-back titles.

As part of the pre-match buildup, our head coach will address the media on Friday during the official press conference at the Bingu National Stadium Media Room in Lilongwe. (Time to be confirmed.)

With history, momentum, and bragging rights on the line, Sunday’s final promises another thrilling chapter in one of Malawian football’s fiercest rivalries.

Reserves – Thumbsup League vs Chilomoni FC

Our Reserves continue their Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Thumbsup League campaign with a crucial away game this weekend.

The defending champions travel to Chilomoni Stadium on Saturday, 19 July, to face newly promoted Chilomoni FC, with kickoff at 14:30.

Following a bounce-back win, the young Maule will aim to stay at the top of the table as the second round heats up.

Under-19s – FCB Katswiri U-20 League vs Nthutha Academy

After a confident 2-0 win over Yizo Yizo Warriors in their season opener, our Under-19s return to action this weekend in the FCB Katswiri Under-20 League.

Coach Yamikani Fodya’s side will host Nthutha Academy at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe on Saturday morning, with kickoff at 09:30.

With three points already secured, the U-19s are eager to maintain their perfect start and keep building momentum in the youth competition.

Women’s Team – Countdown to National Bank Women’s League Kickoff

Meanwhile, the Women’s team continues preparing for the newly launched National Bank Women’s League.

The ten-team national competition is set to begin soon, with nine clubs confirmed and the final spot to be decided this weekend during playoffs in Mzuzu.

Coach Maggie Chombo’s side remains focused on training and fine-tuning as the full schedule and matchday assignments are finalized.
