The Super League of Malawi and the Football Association of Malawi have officially confirmed the rescheduling of two key fixtures involving FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
Our TNM Super League match against Civil Service United, originally scheduled for 7 July, was postponed to accommodate Malawi’s national team commitments. The Flames will host Botswana in an international friendly on 6 July as part of the country’s 61st Independence Day celebrations. Our league game against Civil will now take place on Saturday, 12 July at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, with kick-off set for 14:30.
FAM has also announced a change to the Airtel Top 8 final fixture. The highly anticipated showdown between us and Silver Strikers, initially scheduled for 12 July, has been moved to Sunday, 20 July. The final will still be held at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, with the kick-off time to be confirmed in due course.
Heading into the rescheduled league match, we sit top of the TNM Super League table with 27 points from 10 games. Our record includes nine wins and one loss. Civil Service United are currently in 12th position with 10 points from 10 matches and will be looking to improve their standing as the season progresses.
In the Airtel Top 8, we secured our place in the final by defeating Karonga United 2-1 in the semifinal held at Bingu National Stadium on 21 June. Silver Strikers booked their spot a day later, edging Civil Service United 2-1 in the Lilongwe derby.
The upcoming Airtel Top 8 final will renew one of Malawi’s fiercest football rivalries, as The People’s Team face off against The Bankers in a high-stakes contest in the capital. The two clubs last met in the Airtel Top 8 final in 2024, when a late header from Ernest Petro secured a 1-0 victory for us at the same venue.
While the rescheduling of the Civil Service match was anticipated, the change in the Top 8 final date introduces a fresh dynamic to what promises to be a pivotal month for us. Our focus will first be on securing vital league points before turning our attention to defending the Airtel Top 8 title, with the aim of winning the trophy for a fourth time.
Further information on ticket sales, logistics, and broadcast details will be shared across our official channels as preparations intensify for these important fixtures.
