Captain Frank Willard was named Player of the Match as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets secured a crucial 2-0 away victory over Karonga United on Saturday.

The win opened a three-point gap at the top of the TNM Super League. Bullets now sit on 59 points from 26 matches, while second-placed Mighty Wanderers have 56 points with a game in hand ahead of their Sunday clash against Ekhaya FC.

Willard: “This Award Gives Me Confidence”

Returning to the squad after weeks on the sidelines, Willard said the award gave him a huge boost.

“Being out for several games didn’t get me down. This Player of the Match award gives me confidence and really pushes me forward,” he said.

Crucial Points in a Tight Title Race

The victory was an important step in a tight title race, especially ahead of the midweek trip to Moyale Barracks in Mzuzu.

“It’s a big win for us. We have to keep pushing, remain focused, and never look back. These points are very important because they’ve taken us up the ladder,” Willard explained.

Pushing Through Difficult Conditions

Willard also acknowledged the challenges posed by the pitch and game conditions.

“It’s very difficult to analyse the game considering the surface and how the match was, but we just had to push harder for us to win,” he added.

The win not only added three points to Bullets’ tally but also showcased the team’s determination and leadership, with Willard leading by example. The league leaders now look to maintain their top spot as the season reaches its final stretch.
