Inside Bullets: What’s In Store This Week

It’s another action-packed week across the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets family — with the First Team chasing a cup final spot, Bullets Women back from the international break, and the Reserves eager to bounce back, while the Under-19s take a deserved pause after a strong first round.

First Team Focus: Derby Week Continues

It’s Derby Week – Part Two for The People’s Team.

After Sunday’s TNM Super League clash against Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium, the focus now shifts to another high-stakes encounter against the same rivals — this time in the FDH Bank Cup semifinals at the same venue on Sunday, 2 November.

Having finished as runners-up in last season’s FDH Bank Cup, Bullets will be determined to go one step further this year and reclaim their dominance in Malawi’s knockout competitions. The semifinal presents a chance for redemption following the weekend’s league defeat and an opportunity to move closer to another piece of silverware.

Peter Mponda’s side — top of the TNM Super League and already Airtel Top 8 champions this season — will be looking to build on that success as they chase a potential double.

A win on Sunday would send Bullets to the FDH Bank Cup Final on Sunday, 9 November, at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, where they would meet either Civil Service United or Silver Strikers, who face off in the other semifinal on Saturday.

Training resumed on Tuesday morning at the Blantyre Sports Club, where the technical panel focused on recovery, sharpness, and tactical adjustments ahead of another heated derby.

Mponda’s men are expected to come out disciplined, determined, and driven to respond in front of the Maule faithful.

Bullets Women Return to Action

Following the break for the FIFA Women’s International Week, Bullets Women return to action in the NBM Women’s Championship with an away fixture against Civil Service Women on Saturday, 1 November, at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Before the break, the team had suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Silver Strikers Ladies at Mpira Stadium on 15 October, and the Maule Ladies will be aiming to bounce back and resume their campaign on a positive note as they continue their push for a strong finish in the first round of the championship.

Meanwhile, Bullets are proud to have two players — Bernadetta Mkandawire and Lyna James — representing Malawi in the 2026 AFCON qualifiers. The Scorchers face Angola this afternoon at Bingu National Stadium, and the club extends its best wishes to both players and the national team.

Reserves Await New Fixtures

While the First Team prepare for the derby, Bullets Reserves are waiting for the release of their next fixtures in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League (SRFL) following their 2-0 defeat away to Nsanje United at the weekend.

Heston Munthali’s side currently sit third in the SRFL standings with 36 points from 20 games and will be looking to bounce back and close the gap on the top two once fixtures resume.

Ekhaya Reserves lead the table with 42 points, followed by Chilobwe United on 41, while Wanderers Reserves trail Bullets on goal difference — both sides tied at 36 points, but The People’s Team’s second-string outfit have scored 27 goals, compared to the young Nomads’ 17.

Under-19s Take a Break

After wrapping up the first round of the 2025 Blantyre District Youth Football League, Yamikani Fodya’s side are now on a short break.

Bullets Under-19s finished second on the table, capping off a strong first half of the season and laying a solid foundation for the second round.
