Inside Bullets: What’s In Store This Week

This weekend, only two of our squads are in action. The First Team rests ahead of the Castel Challenge Cup quarterfinal clash against Mighty Tigers on 31 January, while our Reserves continue their pre-season break.

Even with fewer matches, there is plenty for Bullets fans to look forward to as our teams continue building momentum and chasing success across all competitions.

Here’s what to look out for this week: our Under-19s aim to continue their push in the BDYFL, while our Maule Ladies travel to the capital city for their final NMB Women’s Premiership fixture.

First Team: Eyes on Castel Challenge Cup Quarterfinals

Our First Team will sit out this weekend as they focus on preparing for the quarterfinal clash against Mighty Tigers on 31 January.

We earned our place in the Last 8 after a thrilling 3–1 comeback victory over Ndirande Stars at Kamuzu Stadium in the Round of 16. Trailing 1–0 at halftime, Bullets turned the game around in the second half, with Ephraim Kondowe equalising before Maxwell Phodo doubled the advantage and sealed the win with his fifth goal of the competition.

Coach Gilbert Chirwa has the squad focused, sharp, and ready to take on the Tigers as we aim to reach the semifinals and continue our pursuit of silverware.

Under-19: Hosting Airsport in the BDYFL

Our Under-19s will host Airsport on Saturday at Mpira Stadium, in the FCB Katswiri Under-19 Blantyre District Youth Football League, with kick-off at 9:30 AM.

The young Bullets come into the weekend on a high after bouncing back from a 1–0 defeat against Agumbala FC, responding with a convincing 3–1 win over Extending Hope at Kamuzu Stadium.

Currently, our boys sit third on the BDYFL log with 50 points from 26 matches, just one point behind second-placed Ekhaya Youth. Mighty Wanderers Youth lead the standings with 61 points, while Agumbala FC are fourth with 45 points.

This week, our youth team will aim to build on recent form and maintain consistency. They will also look to close the gap on the league leaders, keeping our title hopes alive as the season nears its climax.

Women: Capital City Clash Against Silver Strikers Ladies

In the first year of the inaugural NMB Women’s Premiership, our Maule Ladies will travel to the capital city for their final league match of the season, facing champions Silver Strikers Ladies on Sunday at Silver Stadium, with kick-off at 14:30.

The team comes into this fixture after a hard-fought 1–0 loss to Civil Service Women at Mpira Stadium on Chilembwe Day. Despite the setback, our ladies showed discipline, resilience, and attacking intent, remaining third on the league table with 31 points.

With Silver Strikers already crowned champions at 45 points, the focus for our Maule Ladies is to secure a positive result and finish third on a high note in this historic inaugural national league season.

Looking Ahead

While the First Team and Reserves rest this weekend, our Under-19s and Women’s teams will take center stage.

It’s a week for fine-tuning, building momentum, and chasing results that matter. Fans can expect our teams to bring passion, intensity, and commitment as we continue making strides across all competitions.
