The People’s Team have four representatives in Malawi’s provisional squad for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers.
Blessings Mpokera, Yankho Singo, Ephraim Kondowe and Oscar Petro have been included in Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa’s latest selection ahead of Malawi’s opening Group B fixtures against South Sudan and Angola.
Malawi will host South Sudan on 25 September before travelling to Angola for the second Group B fixture on 5 October.
The qualifiers mark the opening two matchdays of Malawi’s AFCON 2027 campaign, with Angola, Egypt and South Sudan completing Group B. The provisional squad is scheduled to regroup in Lilongwe on Monday, 21 September.
Mpokera has been a key figure in Bullets’ defensive campaign this season, featuring prominently as the club completed the first round of the 2026/27 FDH Bank Premiership with 30 points from 15 matches and eight clean sheets.
The Bullets captain returns to the Malawi setup after withdrawing from the Flames’ March squad due to a minor ankle injury.
Singo has continued to establish himself as a regular under Pasuwa, having also been part of Malawi’s final squad for the Four Nations tournament in Botswana earlier this year.
Kondowe has also continued to build his presence in the national-team setup after featuring in the Flames’ Four Nations squad in March.
The forward is currently the leading scorer in the FDH Bank Premiership, with nine goals in 15 league matches, including a hat-trick in the 5–0 victory over Silver Strikers in the final match of the first round.
Petro remains contracted to The People’s Team while spending the 2026/27 season on loan at Civil Service United.
His selection adds another Bullets connection to the provisional Malawi squad.
