Pasuwa’s reaction to 3-0 win over Tigers

Share

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Kalisto Pasuwa was happy with his players’ performance during Wednesday afternoon’s convincing 3-0 TNM Super League win over Waka Waka Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium.

Chikumbutso Salima scored twice, and Ronald Chitiyo scored the third goal, giving us all three points and taking us back to third place in the league standings.

With the Airtel Top 8 final scheduled for this weekend in Lilongwe, the tactician made a wholesome nine changes to the side that eliminated Kamuzu Barracks from the competition last Sunday as we faced Tigers in the league midweek.

Bullets impressed and recorded a comfortable win over the Kau Kau Boys, and will be going into the final with their shoulders high.

“The players did well, although we missed a lot of chances starting from the first minute of the game. We could have buried this game in ten minutes, but unfortunately, we were very wasteful. But again, that’s how football is, and at the end of the day, we got the three goals that we scored and the three points. Kudos to my players for not giving up despite the early disappointments in which we squandered many chances, ” said Pasuwa after the final whistle.

Commenting on his changes, the Bullets head coach told journalists the rotation was not about resting players for the upcoming Airtel Top 8 final.

“On the changing, it wasn’t about the final. It was a case of sickness. Three to four players had flu. Remember, we were in Lilongwe last week, and when we were on the bus back to Blantyre, some of these players got flu, and I couldn’t play them when they were sick.

“On Babatunde, he was suspended. He couldn’t play. The players who played today did extremely well; this is what we need as a club. I am super excited about how they accepted the challenge,” explained Pasuwa.

Bullets, who had an unimpressive start to the season, have gone ten games without defeat in all competitions, something Pasuwa has attributed to having all the players on board.

“Something impressive, but again, I talked about injuries, and no one listened to me, and I think now I am having all the players on board, and this has given me the opportunity to rotate players, and they are giving me results.”

Responding to a question on the title race as the defending champions currently trail league leaders Silver Strikers by 10 points, the 2023 quadruple-winning coach stated, “As I said, we are playing our games, we win our games, and on the last day of our league matches, that’s when we can talk about the championship.”

Bullets have 44 points from 25 games, three points behind second-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, who, like Silver, have a game in hand after playing 24 games.

The People’s Team will now switch attention to the grand finale in the Airtel Top 8 against Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday.
