Bullets Women Team News: Three injured as training resumes

Nyasa Big Bullets Women forwards Mary Chavinda, Fauzah Mohammad and Zainab Kapanda have suffered injuries that have forced them to discontinue training.

The trio picked up the injuries during the first week of training as Bullets ladies started preparations for the upcoming FAM National Women’s Championship.

Club media spoke to the team’s medical staff for the latest team news a month after Maggie Chombo’s ladies played their FAM Southern Region Football League final match to be crowned champions and book a place in the national competition.

Mohammad suffered a left-hand dislocation during training on 4 January and was in a Plastic of Paris. But the positive news from our doctors is that the wing forward is recovering well and is expected to resume light training this week.

Our top scorer Chavinda, who also won the region challenges Golden Boot with 49 goals, was forced to stop training because of a bruised soft tissue above her left ankle suffered on 30 January when her teammate stepped on her during a session.

Kapanda has right knee ligament discomfort and is on a week’s rest. The Malawi Women National Senior Team forward, suffered the knock during the first week of training as well, a month after returning to the playing field following her recovery from the same knee injury that she sustained during a league game against Evirom in May 2022.

Bullets Women’s physiotherapist, Saraih Nkhoma, assures that the injuries are minor and is positive that the trio should be available for the national phase of the FAM Women’s Football League games expected to commence this month.
