The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has confirmed the officiating panel for our second-round TNM Super League clash against Dedza Dynamos, set for this Saturday afternoon at Kamuzu Stadium.
Referee Chicco Returns to Kamuzu
Gift Chicco, a seasoned official from Mangochi, has been appointed as the centre referee for the encounter. A familiar figure at Kamuzu Stadium, Chicco has already been in charge of three of our fixtures this season. He officiated our 4-1 victory over Creck Sporting Club in April, the 4-0 win against Kamuzu Barracks in May, and served as the fourth official during the dramatic 3-3 draw with Karonga United in August.
Tembo, Sibande and Cassim Complete the Line-Up
Alongside Chicco is Pondamali Tembo, who has been assigned as Assistant Referee 1. This will be Tembo’s fourth Bullets match to handle across all competitions this season, further cementing his regular involvement in fixtures featuring The People’s Team.
Sibusiso Sibande takes up the role of Assistant Referee 2. He was also on the lines during our 4-0 victory over Kamuzu Barracks in May, making this his second Bullets assignment of the season.
The fourth official for Saturday’s fixture will be Shaibu Cassim, who is set to oversee a Bullets match for the first time this season. While he has officiated other TNM Super League games in 2025, this will be his first assignment involving The People’s Team since returning to SULOM duty.
Cassim served a six-month suspension last year after being sanctioned alongside other officials for their handling of our fixture against MAFCO in October. The match drew heavy criticism after Bullets midfielder Wongani Lungu was brought down and then deliberately stamped on by several opposition players, with no disciplinary action taken during the incident.
Chimeza Back After Two-Year Absence
Also returning is match assessor Jones Chimeza, who will oversee the officiating team on Saturday. This will be his first involvement in a Bullets match in two years, his last coming in the 1-1 draw with Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium.
With both sides fighting for crucial points in the second round, Saturday’s encounter is expected to draw a large crowd at Kamuzu as Bullets continue their push in the TNM Super League title race.
Follow the Action
Supporters who won’t make it to the stadium can still follow the match through multiple platforms. The game will be broadcast live on Mpira TV and streamed globally via FIFA+.
