Preview: Luanar Mitundu vs Bullets

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets return to Dedza Stadium on Sunday to face Luanar Mitundu in our final away fixture of the FDH Bank Premiership first round.

Wedson Nyirenda’s side make their second visit to Dedza this season looking to extend a run of successive victories and clean sheets.

Bullets followed a 2-0 home win over Chitipa United with a 1-0 victory away to Karonga United last Sunday, where Ephraim Kondowe converted Yamikani Mologeni’s delivery in the 38th minute.

The result took us to 26 points from 13 matches ahead of Sunday’s meeting with the Premiership newcomers.

The standings

Saturday’s results reshaped the picture at the top of the table.

Mighty Wanderers moved into first place with 29 points after beating Red Lions 2-1, while Blue Eagles’ 2-1 victory away to Masters FC took them to 28, level with Silver Strikers.

Bullets head into Sunday’s encounter provisionally fourth with 26 points. Victory over Luanar would take Nyirenda’s side to 29, above Blue Eagles and level with Wanderers.

Silver, who also have 28 points from 13 matches, host Goshen City Dedza Dynamos on Sunday afternoon, meaning the final order at the top will depend on both results.

Back-to-back wins and clean sheets

Bullets have responded to the defeat against Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium with consecutive league victories.

Blessings Mpokera and Clever Kalambo struck late in the 2-0 win over Chitipa before Kondowe’s first-half goal secured maximum points in Karonga.

The two clean sheets extended an encouraging defensive record, with Nyirenda’s men having conceded seven goals in 13 league matches.

Sunday presents an opportunity to complete the first round away programme with a third successive victory.

Team news

George Chaomba has returned to full training after spending several weeks on the sidelines.

Kalambo is also available again after serving a one-match suspension against Karonga. The winger had started all 15 of our matches across the league and Airtel Top 8 before missing last weekend’s trip.

Chrispin Mapemba and Paul Master remain unavailable.

The opposition

Luanar approach the fixture eighth in the standings with 18 points from 13 matches.

The Premiership newcomers have been competitive during their first season in the top flight and will look to use familiar surroundings at Dedza Stadium to challenge Bullets.

Sunday’s encounter will be the first league meeting between the two teams.

Match officials

Idrissah Matola will referee the contest, assisted by Samuel Fudzulani and Yohane Chiutika.

Ibrahim Mussah will serve as fourth official, with Martha Nyekanyeka appointed match assessor.
