Report: Kondowe hat-trick inspires five-star win over Silver Strikers

Ephraim Kondowe scored a hat-trick as Bullets completed the first round of the FDH Bank Premiership with a commanding 5-0 victory over Silver Strikers.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets moved to the top of the FDH Bank Premiership table after a dominant 5-0 victory over Silver Strikers in the first-round finale at Mpira Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ephraim Kondowe scored a hat-trick, while Wongani Lungu and Misheck Billiat were also on target as The People’s Team produced a commanding display against The Bankers.

The result takes Wedson Nyirenda’s side to the summit, although their position will depend on the outcome of Mighty Wanderers’ meeting with Blue Eagles on 19 September.

Kondowe Strikes Early

Bullets made the perfect start, taking the lead inside the opening minute through Kondowe.

The striker finished brilliantly after being set up by Yankho Singo, giving The People’s Team an early advantage and setting the tone for an impressive afternoon.

Silver struggled to settle as Bullets continued to create openings, with Clever Kalambo going close after Kondowe’s excellent run created space inside the box.

The visitors threatened midway through the half, but Innocent Nyasulu was equal to Chinsinsi Maonga’s effort after the Silver forward found himself one-on-one with the Bullets goalkeeper.

Kondowe doubled the lead in the 34th minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping error by George Chikooka before calmly slotting home from Wongani Lungu’s cross.

Bullets added a third eight minutes later through Lungu.

The midfielder controlled Clever Kalambo’s pass following an excellent run before finishing calmly to give The People’s Team a 3-0 lead at the break.

Kondowe Completes His Hat-Trick

Bullets continued where they left off after the restart, with Nyirenda’s side maintaining control of the contest.

Kondowe completed his hat-trick in the 61st minute, finishing from close range after another excellent delivery from Lungu.

It was the striker’s first hat-trick for The People’s Team and capped an outstanding individual performance.

Nine minutes later, Billiat made it five with a powerful strike that Chikooka could not keep out, after Kondowe provided the assist.

At 5-0, Bullets had put the result beyond doubt and continued to control proceedings against The Bankers.

Bullets See Out Five-Star Victory

Nyirenda used his substitutes to manage the closing stages, with Maxwell Phodo, Andrew Jovinala, George Chaomba, Madalitso Safuli and Frank Willard all introduced.

The visitors were unable to find a response as Bullets kept a clean sheet to complete a comprehensive victory.

The five-goal triumph takes The People’s Team to the top of the FDH Bank Premiership table at the end of the first round.

However, Bullets’ final position will depend on the outcome of second-placed Mighty Wanderers’ meeting with Blue Eagles, who have moved fourth following our victory on Saturday.

The Nomads, who are facing Simba SC of Tanzania in the CAF Champions League on Sunday before traveling to Tanzania next week, have 29 points from 14 matches, while Blue Eagles have 28 points with a game in hand.
